Neiman Marcus ... last call!

Posted May 9, 2008

I wanted to see what the chatter was all about Neiman Marcus Clearance Center so went over to check it out yesterday.

Check out the woman's department ... Sundresses were $282, now $175. Others were $180, now $112. I did find some at $96 that had been $275. Cocktail dresses marked at $122 that had been $350. Sparkly evening jacket from St. John was $1,795, now $628. Another was $2,590, now $906. I saw a beautiful red wool cape from Escada that was made in Italy $2,590, now $906. They had Don Ed Hardy ball caps reduced to $55 and his jeans were on sale at $108. The jeans my granddaughter loves True Religion were $131, from $216.

Juicy Couture hand bags with lots of bling were $94 and $115. I saw a beautiful handbag from Marc Jacobs for $410. There were rows of designer shoes. Wild Italian shoes by Rene Caovilla in gold that had straps that wrapped up your led and a big toe ring to keep them on. Those had been $1,200, now $540. I saw shoes by Stuart Weitzman and the sought after by the stars ... Manolo Blahnik. There was also a large selection of men's shoes.

The jewelry department had lots of bling! Sparkly bracelets at $87 and fine jewelry from Stephen Dweck, John Hardy and David Yurman to name a few. Sunglasses were $44 and $105. The ones I looked at that is, there was a whole table of them. And fancy readers just $16. Also a luggage department. Adrienne Vittadini was 30 percent off. There was a nice selection of leather briefcases. The one I looked at was $172.

In the men's department I found Zanella slacks from $325 to $175. Suits from Hugo Boss at $555. Ike Behgar dress shirts $60. Bobby Jones golf shirts $52 and Valentino ties from $145 to $85.

There is a baby department with infant to toddler clothes. The Baby Lulu and Florence Eiseman collection were especially cute for little girls and Calvin Klein and Shilau for boys.

There is a large section for your home. I saw all kinds of lamps and chandeliers, colored glass vases, candle sticks, pillows, trays, statues, chairs and tables and small pieces of furniture including vanities with sinks. A smart leather topped writing desk that was $1723, now $862. Looking for something different? How about a leather and cowhide love seat that had been $12,000, now $4300! The matching chair was $2500, from $5800. There was also a large cowhide storage Otto for $1500 from $3800.

I liked the leopard chairs for $1800 that had been $4400. There was a pair of them.

The Vera Wang gift sets were nice for ladies, perfume and body lotion, $72. and men, after shave and eau de toilette also $72.

So you can see there is a wide variety of all kinds of things in this new store with 27,000 square feet of space. The marked down merchandise comes from 39 stores nationwide including Neiman Marcus Direct, Bergdorf Goodman and store catalogs. Many are one of a kind so get over there for a good selection!
