The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) stepped up its patrol and search in neighborhoods in Lee County where reports of apparent coyote clashes with dogs have occurred in the past few weeks.

Coyotes are elusive, most active at dawn and dusk, but they can show up anytime of night or day. They occur in all 67 Florida counties. If you suspect a potential problem with any wildlife, call FWC’s Wildlife Alert Hotline at 1-888-404-FWCC (3922).

I have lived in Naples all my life, hunt fish shoot camp. Not one time have I ever seen a coyote. Maybe the fact that we are putting up more Golf courses per year than any other co. ( Collier) and we just dont care about what we do to wild life or where it goes anywhere but here......progress progress.....sad but true. Naples use to be nice. Now it sucks

I have seen a lot of small red foxes, then about a week ago I saw what I believe to be a coyote. I was on Beck Blvd. I believe coyote's have moved into SW Fl. slowly. I am not sure how long they might have been in the area. I have heard about them being in Immok.area in late 1999.
Naples has changed drasticly, compared to the 60's. I would like to be able to set up and try to get some pictures of these animals.

I'm about 95% sure I saw a coyote on Banyan Blvd in Naples about 4 weeks ago (late August). It was a Monday morning about 9 o'clock or so as I was doing my rounds. The animal was about the size of a German Shephard but with pointy ears and not such a thick chest. I called CSO, they said to call Domestic Animal Service. I called DAS and they said wild critters weren't domestic (duh). They refered me to Florida Fish and Wildlife. After a misplaced call to the 'bad gator hotline' I hooked up with someone in West Palm (which evidently is our area in the FF&W scheme of things). After explaining the possible coyote didn't actually drag down and eat an old lady or fluffy doggie the officer told me, in so many words "it's a wild critter, we ain't gonna do nothing about it."
I was surprised to see what I'm pretty darn sure was a coyote on Banyan Blvd. (between 41 and the beach).

I spotted a red fox in Olde Cypress located on Immokalee Rd. in North Naples just last week. The fox came from the golf course , crossed the street directly in front of my vehicle and headed into the cleared lot and back into the woods. It was 3PM.
