</title><link>http://naplesnews.com/news/2008/dec/03/new-perspective-season-rough-start-theres-hope/?partner=RSS</link><description>Either my recollections of this time of year are inaccurate, or grumpy self-centered people are taking over the joy of this holiday season.
Nationally, people trampled a man to death while trying to get into a Walmart. Locally, an otherwise self-respecting resident hits a senior citizen over a remote-control airplane. Even members of the County Commission are acting like boys on a playground when they don’t get their way. My wife tells me I’ve been particularly grumpy lately, too.

</title><link>http://naplesnews.com/news/2008/dec/03/mark-bailouts-may-come-many-forms/?partner=RSS</link><description>Recently, a private business owner requested that a resolution be made by the Board of County Commissioners, the intent of which was to help the business owner maintain a higher than necessary price structure over what he believed was unfair competition from the federal government. The private business operation was an RV resort in Chokoloskee and the supposedly unfair federal operation was the Collier Seminole State Park, off U.S. 41 East.

We have a screened-in patio with a pet door. Every once in a while, a wild thing will push its way in and roam around for awhile and leave. One recent evening, we had our family room door open to enjoy the cool and heard noises in the patio. Scurrying around the potted plants was the cutest little spotted skunk, having the time of its life! Thankfully it pushed its way back out.

There are five people who could have taken her. And it’s up to the crime lab at St. John Neumann High School to find out who did it. Students in Jerry Voice’s anatomy class were up to the task. The students had to collect evidence, study hair samples collected from the five suspects and determine who stole Stingray, a fictional cat who made its owner $750,000 from commercials.

</title><link>http://naplesnews.com/news/2008/dec/03/hawks-patrol-corkscrew-middle-school/?partner=RSS</link><description>Hawks are known for their fierce protective nature and sharp eyesight so its no surprise that the Hawk Patrol is living up to its name at Corkscrew Middle School. The patrol took flight in 2001 after discussions between Michael Joyce, dean of Corkscrew Middle School and onsite Collier County Sheriff’s deputy Cpl. Jacques Pan-Kita, about allowing citizenship to play a larger role at the school.
