Just when you think she’s gone for good, the diminutive actress pops up in an unexpected place.

He’s seen HIV/AIDS ravage Southwest Florida, and he’s stepping up. So on Saturday and Sunday, Ball will perform concerts benefiting the Island Coast Aids Network (ICAN) at the Steinway Piano Gallery on U.S. 41 in Bonita Springs. Each recital will last two hours and feature champagne and hors d’oeuvres intervals.

</title><link>http://naplesnews.com/news/2008/dec/04/review-good-food-nice-price-stir-crazy/?partner=RSS</link><description>I’m not a big fan of chain restaurants — the uniformity of their décor and menus doesn’t really do anything for me. But there are a few exceptions, places that I enjoy dining at even though they are exactly the same in Florida, Maine and California. Stir Crazy, an Asian restaurant and grill, is one of those places. Prices are reasonable, the décor is sleek and the food, although not 100 percent authentic, is always tasty and well-presented.

We’ve eaten too much turkey and pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. It’s now time to get ready for Christmas. The snow doesn’t fall around here and temperatures are still relatively mild, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get into the right spirit. Remember when we were kids and just the thought of Christmas made us excited?

The platinum-selling artist is among the richest rappers in history, selling more than 21 million copies combined of his last three CDs. However, most of his money has been made elsewhere. He has made a mint off of a vitamin water drink, video games and sneakers. Considered one smart businessman, he is spreading his wealth of knowledge in an MTV competition series called “50 Cent: The Money and the Power” (10 p.m. on Thursdays on MTV). Fourteen contestants vie in challenges mixing business savvy and street smarts. 50 Cent presides over their trials and empathizes with their yearning to have it all.

</title><link>http://naplesnews.com/news/2008/nov/24/annotated-menu-handsome-harrys-third-street-bistro/?partner=RSS</link><description>Maybe it was coincidence, but it seems like fate brought Tony Biagetti and Handsome Harry’s Third Street Bistro together. Open for only a year, the tony restaurant needed a new chef. And after 18 years of working for private clubs, Biagetti was ready for a change. One year later, both the restaurant and its chef couldn’t be happier. And with time under his belt, Biagetti is now ready to launch a new menu,
one that will bring the eatery back to it’s name — a bistro.

The film format and accompanying theaters have operated on the fringe since introduced in Canada in 1967, showing mainly science and history films. For most of its four-decade existence, it wasn’t cost-effective for Hollywood studios to shoot using the specialized film, especially when it couldn’t be downsized to fit on a regular theater screen.

</title><link>http://naplesnews.com/news/2008/nov/20/review-la-fontanella-serves-real-thing/?partner=RSS</link><description>In a town where most sophisticated restaurants are often flashy and sometimes kind of snooty, it’s refreshing to find a cozy place where the atmosphere is refined yet friendly and the food is superb. La Fontanella is just that: a small but upscale neighborhood restaurant and — I’m happy to say — it’s my neighborhood restaurant. Located at the Shoppes at Pelican Landing strip mall, squeezed between the pink neon lights of Cheeburger! Cheeburger! and a busy nail salon, La Fontanella manages to pull off a casually elegant atmosphere, conveyed to the customer through tasteful decor and impeccable service.

</title><link>http://naplesnews.com/news/2008/nov/06/movies-your-r-rated-primer/?partner=RSS</link><description>Although they’ve been around almost from the moment the good folks at the Motion Picture Association of America decided to start the modern rating system, R-rated comedies really came into their own in the late ’70s.
Surprisingly the ’90s, which gave way to the rise in music and TV deemed unsuitable for the youngsters, saw a decline in the number of R-rated movies.
