The annual assembly of Haitian art enthusiasts and business women was held recently in Petion-Ville, Haiti at the Karibe Convention Center that showcased a wide variety of art and homegoods created by Haitian women from around the country.
This year's theme was "Creole Creations, Colors and Flavor." Attendees took delight in sampling a variety of foods and view the array of art from all parts of the country. The event was sponsored by "Femmes en Democratie," a Haitian nonprofit organization that helps empower Haitian women in law, politics and business.
Through the assistance of FAVACA,(the Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas located in Tallahassee, FL) two Collier County residents, Alan and Diane Palmer, attended the event to view the many works of the participants.
The goal of the visit was to seek out new ways of marketing and gathering information regarding the variety of items that are available for purchasing and enhancing the economic status of the participants through the education provided by the attendees who come from all over the world.
