Former Florida Everblades defenseman Brad Brown has been recalled to the AHL’s Hartford (Conn.) Wolf Pack for the second time this year, joining Hartford for the Calder Cup playoffs.

The Blades season ended on April 12 after a first-round playoff sweep by the fifth-seeded Columbia Inferno.

Brown, 32, played seven years in the NHL, including serving as captain for the Minnesota Wild. He signed with the Blades on Jan. 7 and tallied two goals, an assist and 68 penalty minutes in 26 games, often engaging in planned on-ice fights. Brown is a former teammate of Blades coach Gerry Fleming with the AHL’s Fredricton (New Brunswick, Canada) Canadiens.

He was first called up to the Wolf Pack on March 11 and played 10 games, totaling an assist, five penalty minutes and a +4 plus/minus rating before being released on April 6 and rejoining the Blades for two playoff games against Columbia.

Brown, 6-foot-3, 221 pounds, will join the Wolf Pack for Tuesday night’s Game 5 against the Portland (Me.) Pirates at Hartford’s XL Center, in the first round of the AHL’s Calder Cup playoffs. The series is best-of-seven.

Brown joins fellow former ‘07-08 Blades teammates goalie Justin Peters, forward Kirk MacDonald and defensemen David Cornacchia and Steve Ward in the Calder Cup playoffs.

Peters, MacDonald, Cornacchia and Ward are playing with the Albany (N.Y.) River Rats, the Blades’ sole AHL affiliate.
