The Naples Daily News' Web site and online vodcast are finalists for 2008 EPpy Awards, contest sponsors Editor & Publisher and MediaWeek magazines announced this week.
The EPpy Awards honor Internet sites affiliated with the media industry; especially newspapers, television and radio networks and affiliates, syndicated shows, and magazines. The awards will be presented next month at the Interactive Media Conference and Trade Show in Las Vegas.
Naplesnews.com is nominated for "Best News Web Site" for sites with fewer than 1 million unique monthly visitors. Other finalists for the award are HeraldTribune.com of Sarasota, the Las Vegas Sun, LJWorld.com of Lawrence, Kan., and 3cat24.cat, a Spanish TV station site.
Studio 55, the naplesnews.com vodcast, is nominated again in the category "Best Use of Video in a Web Site" for sites with fewer than 1 million unique monthly visitors. Studio 55 won first place last year in this category.
Other 2008 finalists in this category are Cape Cod Online/Cape Cod Times, CBC Digital Archives' Les archives de Radio-Canada, the Northwest Herald of Illinois, and TV3minuts, a Spanish TV station site.

Is this an award for the biggest "news blackout"? If so, I vote for The Naples Daily News -- since the news blackout on the current superintendent's actual background was really deserving of some kind of recognition!
I tried to give you some recognition on my parody blog in that yellow / beach scene section on the right sidebar:

Seems you use a lot of NDN's content/quotes on your site but yet you call on others to help form another news org? hmmm create your own content before you bash what you use.
