Teens arrested for vandalizing Estero home reaches a dozen

Please download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, or enable JavaScript for your browser to view the video player.

The investigation into teenage vandalism and burglary at an Estero home has yielded four additional arrests since late Monday, and a detective says the case is nearing an end.

Two arrests were announced late Monday: Kristin Pirone, 15, of 11463 Pembrook Run, Estero, and Daniel Kazmierczak, 15, of 11589 Aron Court, Estero.

Deputies arrested two other suspects on Tuesday: Steve Hatchmeyer, 17, of 20625 Torre Del Lago Street, Estero, and Taylor Thrall, 16, of 11555 Woodmunt Lane, Estero.

All four were charged with felony counts ranging from residential burglary to grand theft auto and criminal conspiracy.

The four arrests bring the total number of suspects to 12.

Deputies allege the teenage suspects broke into a Stoneybrook Golf Club home, vandalized the house and stole more than $50,000 worth of property, including dirt bikes, jewelry, electronics and a 9 mm pistol. Officers say they also stole the homeowners’ Ford truck, which they later used to commit other crimes.

Damage to the home was estimated at $100,000. The home was flooded, strewn with rotting food and generally ransacked when homeowners Richard and Jennifer Williamson returned with their three children last week.

Sgt. Keith Day said the investigation is likely coming to an end, although two more arrests might come in the future.

So far, five of the teenage suspects have family addresses within the Stoneybrook Golf Club neighborhood: Pirone, Kazmierczak, Hatchmeyer, Thrall and Juliana DeFrancesco, who was arrested Sunday.

Logan Dewar and Tyler Campbell both live in San Carlos Park, according to arrest reports, and Joseph Patton lives in south Fort Myers. All three were arrested Monday.

Three of the suspects live in Bonita Springs: Corey Williams, Brian Caprio and Scott Snider. The three boys were the first suspects arrested, when they tried to break into two vehicles on Pinecrest Lane in Bonita Springs last Tuesday, according to deputies.

It was the presence of Richard Williamson’s gray Ford F-350 pickup truck at the scene of that crime that led deputies to discover the break-in at Williamson’s home.

The related story of 'teens charged'....is scary!
Someone wants a 4 day school schedule. Teens home for 3 months and doing this crap....sure, let's give then an extra day during the school year...
Why? Why destroy someones home?

Glad to see their names posted. Children don't deserve anonymity when they are thugs. Now everyone at school and in their neighborhoods will know about their involvement. (Though I doubt it will be a surprise.)

Did they say they ever found the 9mm gun? Or is it still out on the street.

#4 Posted by chincieone on August 5, 2008 at 11:55 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Still out there.

#5 Posted by marcoislandgal on August 5, 2008 at 12:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I hope they find it. We don't need thie gun out there in the hands of these children that would do something like this. I know it's hard to watch your children 24/7.

I know each one of us try to teach our children right from wrong just hopping and praying that they will make right choices in life.

I know it's hard to watch your children 24/7, but these parents have got to do better. They have every right to search their child's room. If the kid is under their roof, they are responsible. If there is a stolen weapon in the house, the parents had better find it and turn it in to the cops.

I also live in Stoneybrook, pay my dues for GATED community and all the Security??? As reported the Vandalizing happen over an entire week. And just where was Security??? That the residents pay for??? Giving tickets for commercial vehicles, boats, yards not being maintained, campers. Come on Stoneybrook appearance is only beneficial if you can also feel safe let’s get the priorities straight.
As for the Kids, I know some of them, they all need to stay locked up and parents, let face it you do not have little angels. The parents were so quick to blame other kids in the neighborhood when something happen, Now the truth comes out!

Residents of Stoneybrook we need to get together and focus on helping the victims that have been pushed out of there home.

Hasn't been reported as found, so allow me to rephrase. No media outlets have reported that the weapon in question has been retrieved by law enforcement officers.

I have to say that it seems like the lack of discipline at home follows a kid through life. Parents shouldn't be drill sergeants, but they should be parents. My siblings and I often talk about the fact that we are the only ones out of our peer group that have never had DUI's, drug problems, etc. Our friends who lacked parental supervision growing up are struggling now. My parents watched us like hawks and I love them for it.

and marcogal, i think they did it as a publicity stunt. :/
its such a shame that teens like them are giving teens like me a bad name.

Publicity stunt? Please explain.

#15 Posted by marcoislandgal on August 5, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)

cmon, why else would kids ruin a gorgeous home like that? whats worse is that they're only gonna get 21 days in jail max for all the crap they did. if that happened to me, i would do it again because 21 days isnt enough to teach someone a lesson. they should at least get 2 maybe 3 months and have to do community service.

Isn't there a peer sentencing? I knew there used to be a program like that in Collier awhile back.
As far as I heard of the program, it was wonderful and the "jury" of peers were harsher than than a judge in sentencing. This would be a good situation for a program like that.

#18 Posted by ShockedStudent on August 5, 2008 at 3:05 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Shocked Student-
You do not trash someone else's home and steal their property as a "publicity stunt." You do this if you are criminal-minded and worthless in the eyes of society. These perps should be punished to the full extent of the law and their parents (I use that word very loosely in this case) should be held accountable as well. The behavior in this case, as well as in other events posters have described, proves that this group has not and will not learn from their actions. Try them as adults, lock them up and, if we are lucky, they will be scared straight. If we let them slide, in ten years time half of these kids will be in prison, on drugs or dead. Mark my words.

#19 Posted by marcoislandgal on August 5, 2008 at 3:14 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Rotton kids come from guess what? rotton parents. If they would have gotten the discipline they should have gotten, this would not have happened. These punks need to spend lots of time behind bars with real criminals, then they would get a real education.

#20 Posted by Contractor on August 5, 2008 at 3:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

these kids were not "worthless in the eyes of society." some of them are very smart, just probably not smart enough to make adult decissions.
if you watch the video the guy said that they would only get 21 days in jail [or juvi]. do you think thats fair?
if it was me and i was locked up for only 21 days, i would go out and do it again.

#21 Posted by ShockedStudent on August 5, 2008 at 3:58 p.m. (Suggest removal)

plus some of them are spoiled rotten, and they want to look cool infront of thier friends so they steal, watch when they get back from prison, they're gonna be "popular".

#22 Posted by ShockedStudent on August 5, 2008 at 4:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

[when i say spoiled i mean that they have the ability to get whatever they want, but they still vandalize and steal and whatnot. they are just doing it to be cool. see? publicity stunt.]

#23 Posted by ShockedStudent on August 5, 2008 at 4:04 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Shocked- You go into a strangers home and totally trash the place to the point where it is no longer habitable and you call the VANDALS "some of them are very smart"! GIVE ME A BIG FREAKIN' break- " smart" people DO NOT vandalize and COMPLETELY DESTROY a strangers home while they are away on vacation. These kids are probably lacking the INHIBITORY neurons that 99.999% of us have that prevent us from doing STUPID things! They need to have their brains scanned and maybe a good lawyer will come up with a medical excuse- DEFECTIVE AMYGDALAS or Lesions on the
PREFRONTAL LOBE INHIBITORY areas!

Then the blame is also on you and your classmates. By glorifying their actions, you've contributed to the destruction of a familiy's home. Shocked, nothing you can say will excuse what they've done. Nothing justifies the destruction and mania. And if you are saying that you can put yourself in their shoes and would do this again if given a lenient sentence, then your parents need to keep a closer eye on you.

#25 Posted by marcoislandgal on August 5, 2008 at 4:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Shocked, which one of the kids are YOU? Are you a boyfriend/girlfriend? Sibling? What is your relationship here? I don't think for a minute that they are merely your classmates. I'm 31, but in my day, we looked down on the trashy lawbreakers in my school. This $hi& would never fly.

i am an aquaintance with kristen, and i sometimes hang out with joey, both of which went to the same middle school that i did, so i do know who they are.
and there is no doubt in my mind that there were more people involved because i know that joey doesnt usually hang out with people like kristin. infact, olivia and joey were pretty close friends [so ive heard].
how can the blame possibly be put on me? i had nothing to do with this.
and im just saying what WILL happen if they will be given a lenient sentence.
im 16. but that has nothing to do with it. adults can ruin houses too. whats your point?

I do not read any where in this blog where ShockedStudent said he agreed with what theses other kids did to this home. I what I read he was saying that the punishment was not going to be enough to stop them from doing it again.

He said that they came from homes that they were given alot. They were not deprived children.

In my oppinion I think the attact on ShockedStudent was uncalled for. He was trying to be part of what the rest of us do and that is voice a comment about the news stories.

No wonder kids now days don't want to have any thing to do with us adults. They try to fit in and then they get jumped.

Thats my thoughts on what happened in this blog.

#34 Posted by chincieone on August 5, 2008 at 7:38 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Does anyone really know enough facts to lay blame on the parents in general? Just about anything a parent can do to punish a child nowadays is considered either cruel and unusual punishment or child abuse. And in some cases law enforcement is allowed to only do so much.

My brother has a daughter who is something of a problem child. She stole my mother's minivan one day and took it out joyriding with some other teenagers. She managed to do a lot of damage to the vehicle in the process.

Both the father and grandmother in this situation wanted law enforcement to arrest and jail the girl, and were willing to file charges, figuring that maybe jailtime would straighten her out where other attempts at discipline had failed.

The police said that they couldn't arrest her since she stole her grandmother's vehicle (in accordance to state laws). Also the laws prohibited the father and grandmother from filing charges against the girl.

#35 Posted by Illiar on August 5, 2008 at 7:58 p.m. (Suggest removal)

#40 I dont know what to do with a problem child these days. If you put them in jail there is no way to keep them safe. There are so many who have died in these past years in boot camps. Not by other inmates either. It was done by officers who worked there.

Not long ago there was a 14 year old here that got beat up by inmates and the judge let him out so he would be safe. The officer who was on guard that night did not do his rounds like he was suppose to.

Once teenagers get to a certian age if they decide to do wrong there is almost nothing were can do without going to jail ourself. So you got me on that one . Maybe someone else would know.

A teen go to jail and got beat up???? blasted!!! Sounds like justice to me!!

#37 Posted by ricky369 on August 5, 2008 at 10:34 p.m. (Suggest removal)

2 cents:

This story is too much. Please ring in if you have ever deliberately done even $10,000 worth of damage to anything. Hopefully not TOO many.

I truly hope that the parents are sued for all of this. They deserve it. Maybe it will roll downhill.

Shocked, you are young and need to realize that if you hang out with punks, you will probably become one. BTW, you didn't do yourself many favors by sharing some of your comments.

If they were looking for publicity ,they got it. But if they pull this kind of thing in the not too far future, they will be in jail, pretty simple.

I think that the parents of these public stunt punks should make a public stunt apology, to the victims, or at least lend them their homes.

Wow...so many of you seem to be twisting ShockedStudents words to fit your own biases. Firstly, the name ShockedStudent implies that this act may seem out of character for some of these kids. Maybe mob mentality took over. In my college days I saw this from wealthier kids all the time. (The biggest delinquents I knew were cops' kids...and somehow it always got shoved under the rug.) To me, Shocked is saying that he/she disagrees with what they did, thinks they deserve a harsher punishment and is only being honest saying he knew a couple of them. I've hung out with certain people to only discover later what losers they are and then I avoided their company. Sometimes it's a learning process...esp. at such a young age. I don't think Shocked is making excuses for anyone, just giving us a little background on who is behind this horrible act. Shocked is not agreeing that they SHOULD be popular or that HE/SHE looks up to them, but that's the way teenagers as a group think. In my high school the popular kids were the biggest jerks, but everyone feared them and their opinion...why? This behavior even happens in adult circles. Lay off the judging of Shocked and give the kid a break.

How many of us have relatives who are mean and maybe even violent sometimes?

How many of us are shunning that relative on a permanent basis?

I would wager a bet...not many.

Shocked said something about having hung out with some of them. Until that person did something really bad like destroying a home, did it ever occur to you that Shocked is like the rest of us? Could it be that Shocked just could not believe that any one of them could do such a thing?

Welcome to the real world Shocked, at least you took the time to express yourself. You will learn to ignore the crap and not give the bad guys any heed...kind of like on this blog. :-)

shockedstudent, I'm curious, and I'm sure a few others are too... at first glance, I can't say any of them look like they are 'underpriveleged' in any way. I don't know what the parental income is on any of them, but making a jump conclusion, the phrase 'spoiled and bored little rich kids' springs to mind. No idea if they ARE, but that's the first thing that pops in my head. Maybe since you know a few, you could say. (And yeah, it's sad to say, but I'm sure that they WILL get some hero worship when and if they get back to school. The bad guys always do get some, it seems.)

It was wrong they knew it and didn't care! The system will now do what the parents haven't done for the past 16 years! I agree the parents should be held responsible for the fixing of the damage done. I hope these punks get jail time! Stoney Brooke will suffer because of these punks!

Curfews, Discipline, Boundaries, a good arse whippen.......If I need to spank my kid in public or tweek his ear it's my right as a parent. Theres a big difference from abuse. Lets stop kids from roaming the streets at all hours unsupervised. We've somehow given them the idea that they are in power & control. Those kids and their parents should pay restitution. Those kids need to feel the wrath now or they won't learn a thing and will encourage other kids to show the same disrespect for others that they have.

I think these kids need to be taught a lesson, besides what they will be doing with the up coming court dates. They need to get JOBS! And pay those people back for the damage they did. They also should be going over to those peoples home and start to clean up the mess they made. Their parents should also be helping since they were'nt doing there job to begin with! Like teaching them the difference between right and wrong!

i wonder whats going to happen the moment these kids turn 18 and they want to go to college or decide they want to get a good job but cant because of what they're doing now.
i hope the parents will finally wake up and disciplin they're kids.

I think every one of these "Jr Thugs" needs to spend some serious time in Juvenile Hall until each of them learns what it is to be a human being who respects other people's property and learns to live by the rules of common DECENT society.
So, their parents have failed to help these young adult realize that this is unacceptable behavior? That's a shame. However, separate these people from the rest of society until they are taught that what they have done constitutes CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR, and until they want to behave like decent citizens, let them rot in detentions centers.
I have a 16 year old daughter here in Lee County, and I do NOT want her going to school with "Jr Felons."

"I was severely punished by my mother and will never steal anything again." I made him responsible for his actions. We have a great relationship, amazing how a little discipline worked and now at age 21 he want's to be in law enforcement. He's told me numerous times that he appreciates that I didn't let him get away with anything. He sees children now days and just can't figure out why the parents don't have control over them.

I'm not too sorry to tell you exactly how I feel: I don't care what happens to these little monsters. Take them out into the EverGlades and throw them in a large pit, ... Or, send them all off to Spas, where they get massage therapy "treatments" and keep lots of powder on their bottoms for the times when they need to poopy in their diapers because they just don't feel like getting up out of their beds. ... Whatever. ... Just please keep them away from the rest of our young impressionable society. We all have to make a choice and be responsible. Those who don't want to be good citizens should be taken someplace where they can't inflict themselves on other innocent people. GLAD to see their names printed. I hope each one of them lives in great shame for what they've done.

I'd be sad and horrified if my child behaved this way. But I'd also be the first one to hand her over to the police if I knew she'd done something this horrendous. If they do not learn early in life what decent behavior is, they are bound to end up in jail one way or another. Better to rid the streets of filth early, if this is an example of how bad they are when they are young.

I think this problem could of easily been somewhat avoided. I live in Stoneybrook and I actually reside on the same street this happened. We all pay our fees to keep our neighborhood "safe" instead of them giving me a ticket for parking on my own grass, or having a ladder outside my house they should be out looking for criminal acts like these. I don't exactly blame their parents because I'm 18 years old and I know my parents arent always there because of work and such but they should of been a little more aware of where their children were really going, and doing what. As for the kids they deserve to be in jail and learn their lesson what complete morons seriously.

First there was TRAILER TRASH.

Now there is GATED GARBAGE.

All the kids they catch will first have to go to trial before they can recieve any sentencing. Or at least plead guilty/ no contest.

Personally I would rather not see them in juvie. I would much rather see the parents completely strip them of their "toys".

Strip the kids bedrooms down to the bare minimum. A bed, dresser, and closet with nothing but clothes and books. Password protect all computers. Take away celphones. Have only hardwired phones in the house. No friends over, no going out without parents, parents call in every half hour or so to check on them.

Look back over last years report cards and make them a study curriculum to improve themselves. Or at least pile on chores and a reading list.

And anything else that will get the parents involved with the punishment of the kids.

One of the problems today with parents is they want to be " friends" with their child! Wake up parents- you can't be nor should you be your childs' "friend". You need to be a parent- a role model; a leader; a disciplinarian; a "boundary" maker! Too many parents out there have no "PARENTAL SKILLS". We should REQUIRE every kid in high school to take a semester course in PARENTING!

"Juliana DeFrancesco was arrested along with 11 other teens for allegedly stealing the property and trashing the house over a two-week period.

DeFrancesco said Juliana ran away scared."

at first said that all she did was "eat some chips" and go home. now the story is changing again?

really. stop trying to get your child out of jail. if she didnt want to be in prison she shouldnt have done it in the first place

her moms being a cry baby about it.

"Since her daughter’s arrest and the arrests of the other teens, DeFrancesco said she’s seen the hateful messages posted on media message boards and has observed people driving by slowly and staring at her home."

oh PLEASE. that's the very least of what she deserves. and you're right, the original story said she showed up, ate some chips & went home. so now why is her mom punishing her if that's all she did? and why does she think taking away her kids xbox and giving her dollar store shampoo is punishment? and i just LOVE this part:

"Other parents, DeFrancesco said, “may think that they know what their kids do at night but they don’t. They’re lying to you. They’re going out to party, to drink and to smoke weed.”"

obviously, this woman doesn't even know what her own kid is doing or what she's talking about..

Parents are the ones to blame! You must keep a short leash on any child and not push them to become part of the popular crowd...So many kids think that the bad kids are the cool kids when, in essence, society should give kudos to all those "nerdy" good kids.... Go nerds, you rock! This type of behavior does not make you more cool or popular, but ruins your life in the long run. Think about it, job applications, resumes, job interviews..this WILL come back to haunt ya'....

Sniff...sniff...I smell a rat...

Question.

Where were the neighbors when all this was happening?

What those kids did could not have gone unnoticed by the neighbors.

The neighbors chose to look the other way?

Something smells here. Is there some sort of feud going on with the neighbors?

The "Gated Garbage" gets in when the people trying to flip their homes they bought thinking they'd get rich quick figured out they couldn't sell their homes and started renting them out.I've heard from maintenance supervisors It's going on all over the place, Saturnia Lakes, Tarpon Bay, etc.

As the Queen of Hearts would say, "Off with their heads!"

Wouldn't seem a great loss (being empty).
