Florida Power & Light Co. reports 7,200 customers remain without power this morning in Collier County because of Tropical Storm Fay.

FPL spokeswoman Sharon Bennett said power should be "essentially restored" in Collier County by tonight.

Residents in Port Royal, Royal Harbor, East Naples and north of Naples High School are reporting power outages this morning.

Power has been restored to Lee County Electric Cooperative customers in Marco Island, Immokalee, Ave Maria and Everglades City, LCEC reported this morning.

Rockford, you seem to be a bit hateful hey? If you hate it here so much why don't you pack up and go back to Rockford, while you're at it there's a few people you can take back there with you.

RockfordGrad, when you post they are normally the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your whiny, moronic remarks do you even come close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone who reads your tired comments is dumber for having listened to you.

Port Royal and the south end of Naples are usually some of the hardest hit areas when it comes to power outages during storms.

There are a lot of large mature trees that cause problems for the overheard wires. Also the electric grid is older and more subject to damage in high winds.

That area is often one of the last areas to have power and utilities restored.

My house is one of those 7200 still without power and I do not live in Port Royal or any of the other locations listed in this article.

I am still without power too! I don't live in any of those communities either. My power was restored quicker after Wilma although I know that FPL is trying.

Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
