Editorial: Last call for early voting

STORY TOOLS

Friday and Saturday are your last chances to cast ballots prior to Tuesday’s primary elections. Once again we encourage as many voters as possible to take advantage of “early voting” to reduce waiting in line on election day.

Remember, this is our first election using paper ballots that require voters to darken ovals next to the names of their favorite candidates. Ballpoint pens will be provided.

The procedure can take longer than electronic touchscreen voting. Plus, if each voter has only one question for poll workers, multiply that by hundreds or thousands and you start to get the picture about the advantages — not to mention the public service you will perform — of getting out to vote Friday or Saturday.

Voters can take part in early voting at any of the locations listed for their respective counties on the following page.

One catch: Voters from Collier, for example, cannot vote in Lee, and vice versa.

Any questions? Call the supervisor of elections offices in Collier, 252-8450, or Lee, 533-8683.

They will be happy to help. Really happy.

Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
