The Naples Gators faced off against Kendall Boys Club on Saturday at Fleischmann Park and came away with two victories. The Gators 90-pound team held off Kendall in the closing minutes, winning 6-2, evening their record at 1-1 on the season. The 105-pound Gators blanked Kendall 20-0, also moving to 1-1 on the year.
The 75- and 125-pound Gator teams both lost. The 115-pounders took the Orange Bowl Champs of 2007 down to the wire before losing 20-12 and falling to 1-1 this season.
The Naples Gators have a bye this week and return to action Sept. 6 when they square off against the Doral Broncos at Fleischmann. For more information on the Naples Gators youth football and cheerleading league, go to www.naplesgators.com.

Greater Naples Little League will have registration for its upcoming fall ball season from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 2 and 4 at Fleischmann Park. Children ages 9 through 12 who live in the league's boundaries are eligible to play. Players ages are determined as of April 30, 2009.
Sign-ups will be at the park's concession stand. A parent or legal guardian must be present for each child. Players must have three proofs of residence and birth certificate. The registration fee is $50, which includes a t-shirt and hat.

The Sports Club of Naples is sponsoring a new concept in youth flag football. K6 Sports offers a flag football league with all teams coached by certified youth professionals. Players will learn the techniques, fundamentals and concepts needed to be successful in tackle football without putting on the pads. HIT Baseball is hosting a skills camp for all ages from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fleischmann Park. The camp will include throwing, fielding, hitting and pitching drills, as well as speed and agility training. The purpose of the camp is to provide a two-hour, high intensity session that will help kids become better players. The cost is $30 per person. Southwest Florida Hawks 13-and-under and 12-and-under traveling baseball teams are looking to add players for the fall season. Players' ages are determined prior to May 1, 2009. The Hawks compete in AAU, USSSA, IBC, Triple Crown and other national tournaments.

Registration is underway for the fall season of youth sports at both the Greater Naples and Bonita Springs YMCAs. This year's sports include t-ball, basketball, cheerleading, flag football, soccer and volleyball.
The Greater Naples YMCA is offering basketball leagues for kids ages 3 through 17, soccer leagues for kids ages 3 through 6, and a volleyball league for kids ages 9 through 14. The Bonita Springs YMCA is offering t-ball leagues for kids ages 3 through 6, basketball leagues for kids ages 5 through 14, flag football leagues for kids ages 7 through 11, cheerleading for kids ages 5 through 12, and a new volleyball league for kids ages 6 through 15.

Sign-ups have begun for the Collier County Lacrosse Association's fall league. Players can sign up for the high school league (ages 14 to 18) or the youth league (6 to 14) at www.collierlax.com. All registrations will be taken online. There will be boys and girls leagues.
The high school program starts Sept. 30 and will be every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Golden Gate Community Park. The youth league is from 6:30 to 8:30 on Wednesdays starting Oct. 1 at Vineyards Community Park. The cost is $50 per player.

Local post offices are cooperating with the national Pitch-In For Baseball organization, whose mission is to help kids all over the world share the American pastime of baseball by providing used equipment. Between now and Saturday, area post offices are soliciting gently used baseball gloves.
Lee County post offices are cooperating with Little League Baseball in distributing these donated gloves to Little League players who need them. The special collection program will conclude with the last Saturday night home game of the Miracle baseball team on Aug. 30. The gloves can also be brought to the game, which will feature a fireworks display.
The gloves will be distributed locally as well as to the non-profit organization Pitch-In For Baseball. Local groups who would like to receive gloves are asked to contact Debra Mitchell at 573-9638.

PlyoCity, a nationwide plyometric training company, is offering its High School In-Season Training Program for all high school players. As this is the first PlyoCity session offered in Southwest Florida, it will be offered at a discounted price.
There will be one free introductory session Saturday followed by eight additional sessions for $50. The free session is at 11 a.m. at the Estero Recreation Center. The following training sessions will then by from 11 to noon every Saturday until Oct. 25.

The Little South fall volleyball league, a 13-and-under league sponsored by USA South Volleyball, is set to start its first season in Southwest Florida. The program was established for players without a fall school program or who just want more training.
The Little South fall league is split into two divisions based on skill level. The Black team is for advanced players in grades six through eight. The team will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. every Monday night Sept. 8 through Oct. 27. The Purple squad is for third- through eighth-graders with little to no experience and meets 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays from Sept. 10 through Oct. 29.
Each weekly session includes one hour of training and one hour of games. Both teams meet at the Estero Parks and Recreation Center, and the cost for each is $200 for the season. There are 28 spots available on each team.

The Naples Roller Hockey League have fall registrations coming up at Veteran's Community Park off Immokalee Road in North Naples. Sign-ups will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sept. 6. An additional registration will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 3.

The Optimist Club of Naples starts its 11th season of middle school volleyball in September. The Optimist Volleyball League is a program offered to students enrolled in Collier County middle schools. Participants will play on teams from their respective schools.
Registrations will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Barron Collier gym. The cost is $80 per player. Tryouts are from 9 a.m., to 2 p.m. Sept. 21 at Barron Collier. No experience is necessary, and everyone who registers will be placed on a team based on skill.
In addition to practices, volleyball clinics will be conducted at Barron Collier each Wednesday for the players and the coaches. Games will be played Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at the high school beginning Sept. 28. The season ends Nov. 9.

A new youth sports program, i9Sports, is starting flag football leagues in East Lee and Hendry counties for the fall. The programs are for boys and girls ages 4 to 14.
Being easily accessible and convenient for parents is a priority of i9Sports, according to founder Frank V. Fiume. The league offers a Web site where parents and players can easily register, look up standings and statistics, access team news and view game photos 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
