Local golf: First Tee of Naples/Collier's Kelly paired with Gil Morgan at Champions Tour event

The First Tee of Naples/Collier's Rene Kelly will play with defending champion Gil Morgan in the first round of the Champions Tour's Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach beginning on Friday.

Kelly, a 17-year-old senior at Riverdale High School, had qualified for the tournament during the summer. Rounds will be played at both Pebble Beach Golf Links and Del Monte Golf Course. The event will be televised by the Golf Channel from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 6:30-9:30 p.m. Sunday.

    Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
