Free food

Chick-fil-A will be suppling free food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Sun-N-Fun Lagoon at North Collier Regional Park, 15000 Livingston Road, Naples. Entry fee to the park are $10, anyone four feet or taller; $5.50, anyone under four feet. Information: 252-4021

Adult education

Meeting

Free classes

A GED class and an adult English class for English Language Learners (ELL) will be given for free from 6 p.m. -9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays beginning Sept. 8 at the Immokalee Technical Center, Bethune Campus, 614 South Fifth St., Immokalee. Cub and Boy Scouts sign-up

Boys interested in joining Cub and Boy Scouts in Collier County will be able to sign-up from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 9 at all public elementary school cafeterias north of Golden Gate Parkway, Naples and from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 16 at all public elementary school cafeterias south of Golden Gate Parkway, Naples. Pupils at Palm Cottage

The Naples Historical Society works with public and private schools to provide free specially tailored Palm Cottage and Garden tours for fourth and fifth grade social studies classes. Grants for yellow bus transportation are available. Information: 261-8164

Achievements and accolades

-- Jon Coulter served for two weeks as part of the youth staff for the National Advanced Youth Leadership program at the National Scout Reservation in New Mexico during July. Coulter served as a troop guide as a facilitator on activities, evaluating participants and mentoring patrol leaders.

-- Kathleen Coulter was named to the fall 2007 and spring 2008 dean’s list at the University of Central Florida, College of Sciences. She was also selected for the NCAA women’s varsity rowing team for the 2008/2009 season. Coulter is a 2007 graduate of Barron Collier High School

-- Joshua D. Hurtley, son of Michelle and Shawn Hurtley of Marco Island, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

-- Joseph D. Miranda of Naples graduated Binghamton University, Harpur College of Arts and Sciences.

-- Mary Ann Ramsey, president of Betty Maclean Travel Inc., has been named one of the 128 top travel specialists by the “Conde Nast Traveler” magazine. Ramsey specials in multigenerational family travel, customized safaris to Africa and India, private jet travel and space travel with Virgin Galactic.

-- Sonny Saunders and Rhea Nichols were the winners of the Naples Digital Photography Club the “Picture of the Year,” final competition.
