NAPLES A "solid waste park" is being planned for 341 acres of land owned by Collier County near the current landfill in Golden Gate Estates.
The public is invited to attend a neighborhood information meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Golden Gate Community Center auditorium, 4701 Golden Gate Parkway, relative to a formal application submitted by the county's Solid Waste Management Department seeking approval of a conditional use permit for the development of a "solid waste park" on land located about 1.5 miles east of Collier Boulevard and a mile north of White Lake Boulevard, according to a news release from Margie Hapke, spokeswoman for the county's Public Utilities Division.
According to the news release, the "solid waste park" will provide land area for storm recovery operations, construction and demolition materials processing, and horticulture debris processing. The potential also exists for the development of other needed operations such as administrative office space, educational facilities, bio-solids processing, and/or a recycling collections and materials recovery facility.
"This meeting will provide residents an opportunity to become fully aware of the development intentions and to give input to influence the form of development," according to the news release.
