Letter of the Day: Just say no?

Editor, Daily News:

There are people advocating our complete independence from petroleum. Instead of drilling or exploring for oil to become self-sufficient, they’re advocating a complete break from petroleum imports and rejecting oil exploration. Convert to electricity or hydrogen fuel cars and the problem is solved.

Most don’t realize how dependent we are on petrochemicals.

Over 4,000 petrochemical products are made from crude oil. Not just gasoline, diesel fuel and heating oil, but garbage and shopping bags, candles (paraffin), dish-washing detergent, disposable diapers, feedstock, fertilizers, flooring, hand lotion, insect repellent, milk jugs, panty hose, patio furniture, plastics, shampoo, tape, tents, toys, tires and waterproof jackets and boots, just to name a few.

Take the “soccer mom.” She drives a hybrid minivan still using gas, oil and lubricants. The tires, upholstery, flooring, hoses, wiring, dashboard and wiper blades come in part from petrochemicals. Uniforms, shin guards and cleats of the kids, along with the synthetic cover on the soccer ball, come from petrochemicals. The field is probably sprayed with fertilizer, pesticides and/or insecticides and the irrigation system also has petrochemical parts. Also the goal nets. The refreshment stand uses Styrofoam cups and plates along with plastic soda and water bottles. The mosquitoes start biting so out comes the insect repellent.

Before you say “no” to drilling in Alaska or off our coasts, or extracting oil from shale, or sand pits, you had better think about the dramatic changes in our daily lives to cope without oil. If we don’t import it, then we must find it at home.

Letter: All systems ’go’

Editor, Daily News:

To the letter writer who feels President Bush should not attend the opening ceremonies of the Olympics:

1. The Chinese have worked very hard to dissuade the North Koreans from their nuclear weapons program. The North Koreans have enabled both the Iranian and Syrian nuclear programs. This is a huge positive.

2. The Chinese took away their subsidies for the use of domestic gasoline. Thus, they tried to cut demand.

3. The Chinese have invested their foreign reserves in our financial markets. Thus, they have helped bail us out of our own follies, involving lending to dysfunctional people.

4. Trade is a two-way street. For example: GM vehicles are extremely popular in China. BankAmerica has a large stake in China Construction Bank.

5. China has actually been working in great harmony with one of our major allies, Japan, recently. This is astounding in light of historical enmity between these two nations. The Bush administration, led by people like Condoleeza Rice and Nicholas Burns, have been remarkably successful in this area!

What Bush is doing is called a quid pro quo! I am sorry to tell you that geopolitics is not necessarily completely moral, but that is “realpolitik”!

Stan Klein, Naples

Letter: The truth is ...

Editor, Daily News:

The media constantly tell us President Bush’s low approval rating creates a climate favorable for a Democrat takeover of the White House. Is it not curious that we are then also told that the even lower (single-digit) approval levels for Congress is reason for the Democrats to vastly increase their control of both Houses?

In 2006, Republicans lost mainly due to failing to adhere to GOP principles, especially regarding spending and earmarks. Democrats promised to reduce spending, cut earmarks and “bring back integrity,” but actually did what Democrats always do and increased spending, increased earmarks and did nothing to improve ethics.

Now we have a Democrat candidate running on a platform of “change.”

I wondered exactly what he meant, but now it is clear. He completely changes his policy every week. He has changed his stance on just about every subject you can name and the media calls it “recalibration”!

The truth is, it represents inexperience, immaturity and speaking before you think. Has anyone picked up on his habit of prefacing a complete 180 on any subject by saying “As I have always said” followed by a statement completely different from anything he has ever uttered?

Watch for it next time because the media won’t point it out.

Barack Obama says he will not raise taxes on the middle class, yet he will allow the Bush tax cuts to expire which will be the biggest tax increase on the middle class in history.

There is no sugar-coating it. This man lies.

Donavin Baumgartner Jr., Naples

Letter: Iraq attack

Editor, Daily News:

I am writing to express my disappointment with the current Iraq administration’s request for a specific timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. They disrespect our soldiers who gave their lives for their freedom; they do not deserve our support.

I would withdraw our troops immediately and let them continue their 1,000-year religious wars among themselves and their neighbors. We could put our resources to better use than providing financial support to Iraq, a country without honor and a demonstrated intolerance to cultural and religious diversity.

George Morgan, Naples

Letter: Please, get lost

Editor, Daily News:

Re: Monday’s letters to the editor.

I was particularly impressed with the letter written by Wilfred O. Uhl, headlined “The real oil crisis.”

I agree wholeheartedly with everything Uhl had to say, except for the last paragraph, which states, “The best thing for the nation would be if Congress repealed all the laws blocking oil drilling and then took a year’s vacation.”

I would add that after the Congress year’s vacation is over, it would be best if each member gets lost on his or her return trip to Washington.

Also, as to those blow-hard Congress members who have ignorantly boasted that if we can send a man to the moon in 10 years we can develop alternate energy sources to replace oil within 10 years, have they ever considered the source of energy that propelled the landing craft to the moon? Duh!

I plan to do my part in the next few elections by voting against all congressional incumbents, and I hope many other voters will join with me. Perhaps some day our glorious Congress members will get our message and begin working for the folks who hire them, instead of working for their party or their own selfish interests.

Dick Duggan, Bonita Springs

Letter: Hale: He’s not hardy

Editor, Daily News:

I see the Obama bandwagon slowing, soon to stop. His leftist backers are chagrined to see him rapidly move to the center, abandoning his boast of “change,” while they “hope” he will return to them.

Never!

He has already swung from “end the war now” to “bring the troops home in 16 months” to “send more troops to Afghanistan.”

The TV anchors who adoringly accompanied him will have difficulty making this change of policy sound consistent with prior rhetoric.

NBC News calls the present campaign trip to the Middle East and Europe as a “tour of duty,” hardly an appropriate use of a military term for one who has not yet finished basic training. This amateur can’t hardly gain foreign-policy experience in a week when he has no relevant background. The media pictured him playing basketball in Afghanistan, thus doing one of the few things he knows, in a war zone, where others are occupied with more serious matters.

The tide is turning against this amateur legislator, who began his public service as a community rabble-rouser in the slums of South Chicago, did zip in the Illinois Legislature and the same in the U.S. Senate.

The latest news is that his finance chair is up to her pretty (and rich) ears in the subprime banking scandal, in Chicago.

I can’t wait to watch the rats flee this sinking ship.

Nick Hale, Naples

Letter: In Smith’s defense

Editor, Daily News:

We have the opportunity to elect a dedicated professional as public defender — Kathy Smith.

Smith has committed the past 18 years to the Ppublic Defender’s Office, 13 of those in senior management. Smith is the governor’s choice following application and interview process requirements.

I have known Kathy Smith personally for 13 years and she is my choice for this important position. Vote for Kathy Smith as public defender. She will serve us well.

Harvey G. Humphrey, Bonita Springs

Letter: Vote Ortino

Editor, Daily News:

For the first time in a very long time, the silent minority of Collier County will have its say. For too many years Republicans and their candidates have had all the power. This time, Democrats will be empowered to pick not along party lines, but for the best candidate.

We, as Democrats, will have the chance to pick the person who we know will fix the budget and make positive changes to the county that will help keep us safe at night. Experience is important, but in my book both Kevin Rambosk and Victor Ortino have enough experience in law enforcement that I consider it a moot point.

What worries me is the ethics, or rather lack of ethics, that has already been displayed by Rambosk. For a man who wants to become the head of our county’s largest law-enforcement agency, his reputation and code of ethics are questionable at best.

On the other hand, Ortino has stood up for what’s right and called out Rambosk on many occasions. Who will catch Rambosk when he slips as sheriff? That question is what swayed my vote for Victor Ortino. Democrats for Ortino! Victor Ortino for sheriff!

Megan Getter, Naples

Letter: How it can be done

Editor, Daily News:

Recent recommendations by the accreditation review team are just further examples of the unprofessional, shameless performance by the Collier County School Board.

Your article quotes board member Steve Donovan as suggesting getting the Florida School Boards Association to evaluate the report and recommend ways to address the problem!

The School Board does not need to waste time in another evaluation and should just get down to work. Set a goal to finish the job — develop the actionable task list — in one week, and then put in names and dates to implement the steps.

School Board members should emulate the process (though in a smaller scale) used for the Baldrige National Quality Program — a program designed to select/reward the “best” organizations in the whole country. I was involved in this program in the 1980s for quite a few companies and it is an excellent approach to follow.

Board members can go to www.quality.nist.gov to learn all the details. It has a very rigorous and structured set of procedures — to begin, just look at the Criteria for Performance Excellence and Optional Self-Analysis Worksheet.

I am sure that the school system has an individual knowledgeable in group dynamics with good probing and communication skills and knowledge of statistics who can get the job done expeditiously.

I just hope the School Board members wake up and get down to business and just do it (and quit talking); or else I suggest we throw out all of the members and elect a brand new slate of board members.

Letter: What does that say?

Editor, Daily News:

I have stated very clearly that former Collier County Undersheriff/Executive Officer/Deputy Sheriff Kevin Rambosk flat out must have known he broke the law numerous times.

He violated the Hatch Act. He campaigned in full uniform, driving a Sheriff’s Office car. He did it before he was switched from undersheriff to whatever and I believe he continued to violate the law afterward.

As a veteran, a citizen, a taxpayer, a voter and a reader of the Daily News, I believe in my heart that the Daily News should condemn the actions of Rambosk.

He is running for sheriff and should have known full well he was breaking/violating the law!

He receives a pension from the city of Naples. He was the Naples chief of police. He was a deputy sheriff for years and must have known he was breaking the law.

Enough is enough. It is time for the Daily News, as well as the other media, to demand that Rambosk drop out of the campaign for Collier County sheriff.

If he did not know he was breaking the law, then he is too dumb/stupid to be sheriff.

Maybe stupidity is the problem within the Sheriff’s Office. Its members bust grow houses, but forget to obtain a search warrant. They hold people, yet forget to read them their rights. Rambosk violates the Hatch Act.

Given those facts, how can any citizen trust Rambosk?

Robert R. Gibson, Naples

For the past 6 years after seeing our president greeted around the world by protesters and hate, how refreshing to see 200,000 enthusiastic Germans waving American flags cheering!

Love or hate Obama, you have to agree, it feels good to see America applauded and respected once again.

Or perhaps your patriotism and pride for America is not as strong as your hate for Obama?

#1 Posted by opnmind on July 24, 2008 at 9:03 p.m. (Suggest removal)

You have to love Obama's speech in Germany.
Just 15 days ago he said Americans should learn Spanish and was "embarrassed" that Americans in Europe could only say Bon Jour.
Yet he goes to Berlin and gives a speech in ...English.
Beautiful.

It seems the light of truth, which Ortino has been shining on the sheriff's department, has been noticed by the good people of the Democratic Party of Collier County. Welcome to you all! It has been too long since the Dems had a fair say in who the sheriff of our community will be. The sheriff should not be a partisan office anyhow.

It does my heart good to see so many Democratic voters seeing the sheriffs department for what it has become and its leadership, including the ousted Rambosk, for who and what they are -- and do.

As the man said, ORTINO for sheriff!!!

#3 Posted by W_Coyote on July 24, 2008 at 9:22 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I think Ortino is the best choice for sheriff. I mean if you look at all that has been exposed on Rambosk and the sheriff department how can you vote for anyone else?

And by the way at the debate last night Rambosk was in a green suit. What is with him? He was forced to quit the sheriffs department or go to jail but he just can't let it go. He wears green and a sheriffs star. What, is he trying to fool people into thinking is a a cop or something? To me he is just trying to pull the wool over my eyes and fool all of us. I don't want that in a sheriff.

Vote for Ortino for sheriff.

I'm glad dems see the light. The light of course being that Ortino is the best choice for sheriff in collier county. Vote Ortino!

boss, you don't watch the markets like I do.

Unemployment jumped an unexpected 30,000+ last week.

No wonder you are a union boss wannabe.

In Germany, Obama says:

get out of Iraq: The crowd cheers.

stop global warming: The crowd cheers.

Fight the war in Afghanistan: Silence

End terrorism: did I hear a boo over the silence

Not the speech they expected.

He is a farce.

OK, let's let the Ortino debate reign here. No simple "I want Ortino" stuff, please tell us the reasons (or else I just keep blasting bossman for having no understanding of the economy whatsoever).

GoneFishin,

I think the following will indeed show what a failure PRESIDENT OBAMA would be if elected. The amount of gaffs exposed and the complete mistrust of the troops is evident in their response.

GoneFishin is right. Barack is an "empty suit" and the only black man that cannot play hoops.

Hey Gonefishin, I see you watch the market closely. I take it you have been short and as successful in that regard as you are in your denunciations of Obama and Democrats. That has to be the epitome of self-satisfaction. Do you have any idea of how many of those "plus" jobs you indicated were reported are to support the "surge" in Iraq? I understand they pay a lot better than McDonalds.

Stan Klein - You win, or at least you should win a free trip to China, paid by their government,to the Olympics. Your letter is about the best example of convoluted logic a Republican can demonstrate.

Fish, Your correct, I don't watch the market like you do, very few people do. You must get all your info from Larry Kudow and his friends. Cutting the capital gains tax really spured the market on didn't it? Cutting tax rates for the top income people has really increased tax revenue and economic growth hasn't it. GDP growth may be negative now, tax revenues down and Nat. debt soaring. They have been correct 0% of the time, just like you.
Hows your stock porfolio, still insisting how well it's doing? Still paying those high management fee's to lose money? Or is your well devirsified porfolio the only one who has made money in the last eight years?
Yes Fish, I don't watch thre market like You do.
I can see some blue in the sky Now, we are only six months away.

Gibson, How does Rambosk feel about gun ownership and carrying. Does everyone have the right, even duty to own and carry guns? Should they shoot first and ask questions later?

Kevin Rambosk for Sheriff of Collier County!

"Republicans chafed at the media attention Obama’s campaign-season trip has drawn. Presidential rival John McCain went to a German restaurant in swing-state Ohio and said he’d like to deliver a speech in Germany some day."

OMG. Let me get this right.

One candidate gives an emotional speech to hundreds of thousands in Berlin reminiscent of JFK and Reagan.
The other guy wheels his small Winnebago into the parking lot of Brunos Brats located in a one traffic light town in Ohio. He has coffee with Joe.

LMAO.

The neocon strategy must now be to capture the sympathy vote. In spite of having a couch to nap on several times a day, the senior Senator is looking rather haggard.

#18 Posted by boulderbilly on July 25, 2008 at 8:47 a.m. (Suggest removal)

boulder, you are so blind you actually thought Obama's speech was "emotional".

Snore.

Thank God he was allowed to speak at the Brandenburg Gate.

"I speak to you not as a candidate for President, but as a citizen..."

Really? Why don't we send boulderbilly. He's a citizen, isn't he?

He can read a teleprompter, can't he?

You're missing the point GF. EVERYONE does support OBAMA. LOL.

Where's your guy going today, gonna pick corn in Kansas with Walter?

My guy will be giving the Secret Service a run for their money keeping back the hundreds of thousands of admirers in the city of lights. Paris is beautiful this time of year.

BTW, did McSame's staff inform him that the problem on the border between Iraq and Pakistan he referred to is a country called Iran? Might wanna get grandmpa a map of something besides Ohio and Kansas.

LMAO.

Once again, the bitterness of these posts on a personal level baffles me. If you don't like Rambosk, that's ok, I may think you are foolish, but you are entitled to your own opinion. We are still in America.

If you can't recognize the only person with any experience or the background to make an effective leader for the Sheriff's Office in Collier County then I recommend the you make plans to attend the debate tonight or the one next Tuesday; please don't read the comments on here and make a misinformed opinion based on the prejudices of others.

I wholeheartedly believe that Kevin Rambosk has the education, the experience and the passion to run the Sheriff's Office (not department) in a professional manner and continue to keep Collier County safe as we have been. If his choice to wear a green suit offends you, then maybe you should re-examine your motives for supporting a Sheriff. It is about the best man for the job, not who you are related to, nor who may have promised some political favors.

Again, attend the debates and listen for yourself to what EACH candidate has to say, as well as what they don't.

knital, I tried to get people to talk about who to vote for the sheriff, but no one cares.

Thanks for your non-contribution.

I thought Obama went overseas on a "fact finding" mission. Turns out it is very productive campaign trip. Wonder what he thinks about Iraq now? Safe enough for speeches, let's go now.

One more thing, regardless of politics, this "citizen" should have visited the wounded troops in Germany.

#26 Posted by DinNaples on July 25, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I agree DinNaples, so did OBAMA and his staff. He only cancelled at the direct request of the Pentagon. His heart is with the troops yet the Pentagon acted properly.

From todays Bloomberg Report:

"Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama canceled a trip to visit wounded American soldiers at a U.S. military base in southwest Germany after the Pentagon said it would be construed as electioneering."

#27 Posted by boulderbilly on July 25, 2008 at 10:46 a.m. (Suggest removal)

With the European surveys showing in excess half of all Europeans want to see a weakened America, it is obvious from the crowds there that they feel Obama is the person that can accomplish a weaker America. And it was very nice of Obama to offer to share our wealth with the world in a more equitable way.

EVERYBODY SING!!!!

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving

Let's see if I have this straight. We want to increase the taxes on the top 10%, kill our GDP and then share it with the world because, .............. well just because.

Because of the strength of America, we have always been the one the help and bail out the rest of the world. We must remain strong to continue to be able to do that, WHEN NEEDED

#28 Posted by ChiDem on July 25, 2008 at 11:02 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Obama will rape us with taxes if he is elected. Why do we continue to assist other countries when we can't even get our stuff together ourselves? Cut off funding to every nation, get our stuff together and then we can see who is worthy to get OUR money that just keeps getting handed out to everyone BUT US. Oh, but Obama will help out his lower class (non-working) friends with all OUR money. This madman needs to be stopped and definitely never elected to RUN OUR COUNTRY!!!

#29 Posted by neapolitan12345 on July 25, 2008 at 12:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

MikeM - nice stats on the journalist contributions to the campaigns. But, there is no media bias...

#30 Posted by neapolitan12345 on July 25, 2008 at 12:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Rejoice, why do you taunt them so with facts? They love their little spin and don't get the truth. Thanks for that link. I almost thought the spin was true, but now I understand.

Obama called off a trip to visit wounded troops at the Landstuhl Medical Center at Ramstein, Germany,
because he could not bring the media with him.

That should sit well with the military (if the truth gets out.)

He could have gone, and military photographers would have released plenty of shots, but it wasn't a good enough thing for a Senator (who was in the area already) to go and visit the troops he disdains so much, anyway.

#31 Posted by GoneFishin on July 25, 2008 at 12:39 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It seems Republicans have something more to "rejoice" about - John Edwards indiscretions if true. I love when they pontificate. It's so "conservative".

Let's see now John McCain is a divorcee. Ofcourse, that's okay these days. Craig of Idaho has made a toilet stall at the GOP convention site this year a tourist attraction. And, I forgot that Florida Republican congressman's name who was/is "partial" towards congressional pages, preferably young men. It seems to be all a matter of "taste'. Now if it is a "hooker" that is "needed", theres a guy representing Louisiana now and some past Republican stalwarts that have some experience in that area. Let's also give Newt Gingrich "an honorable mention". Touche!

#32 Posted by Elephanttamer on July 25, 2008 at 2:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Kevin Rambosk has always been "appointed" to everything, He's never been "elected" to anything. Sure he's joined a truckload of volunteer organizations, how much time did he spend with them doing "Volunteer" things. Sure he's got degree's, hell even Ted Bundy had a good education. It doesnt make him honest or have a personality indicative of caring about so many people. I see about fifty or sixty people at the Sheriff's Department who are fighting for their jobs. They've evidently been told by someone that if Ortino is elected, that he'll fire them all. This is a ridiculous perspective. I've been to the debates, watched the supporters for both sides. I agree that both sides have some folks who are "over emotional" about this crap. But the bottom line, is NOT education. Hell a German Shepard could be Sheriff if he had the common sense to hire decent people below him. Look at other counties that have elected first time Sheriff's, who've done a great job. Why? because they have the decency, common sense and heart to know right from wrong and not be talked into stuff they shouldnt do. Victor Ortino doesnt want to hear "only what you think he wants to hear". I defy you find anyone who can say that Victor Ortino is an unfair person. Sure, several deputies who are fooled by Rambosk's people are afraid. But there's no need to be. Victor is no idiot as portrayed by the hate mongers. He knows talent when he sees it. He also has the ability to smell a power hungry jerk and would do away with that attitude if elected. Aside from all that, remember, that man sitting at that position MUST have a perspective that has heart, fairness, consistency and the ability to not be fooled by internal con-artists. Victor has that and more. Rambosk has already shown that he does not, even with his degrees.

Well, seems like all you Right Wing purveyers of fabrications are having fun among yourselves today. I almost hate to join such goings on that you enjoy.

But I have to say to Baumgartner and all of you who like to bask in the idea that Barack changes his mind often, you haven't been paying attention. You don't listen for yourselves. You have to wait until Limbaugh etc. tells you what to think.

Barack has been my choice from early on, and I haven't seen him make any significant change in what he's said from nearly a year ago.

One could say some of his positions had some tweaking, but the basic tenets remained the same. It was that there are different ways of going about achieving the same thing.

You say Barack is moving to the Center. Well, I've always felt he was much more in the center then all of you were throwing out there. You are the one's calling him left wing. I never saw or heard him espouse anything really left wing.

You know, it's you desparate losers out there who have nothing but to try to lie about and tear down Obama. Let's hear why you support McCain. Let's hear what's so positive about him.

Let's hear you explain his many, many errors of facts and geography. Everyday we hear another one. It's like he needs someone at his side helping him at every step.

If you look carefully and watch carefully, you will have to admit that McCain who was not very intelligent to begin with is fumbling, slipping, and I think he has a fixation on Iraq that's a hang over from Viet Nam. Interestingly, I heard one of the media say the same thing. It's not something we can brush off lightly.

And it's not that I dislike McCain like I do Cheney and Bush for the lies they've told us and the horror they've caused us and Iraq, I just think the man is not fit to be president and would do something very rash to get us into irreversible trouble.

Also, it could be the press doesn't cover him like they do Barack because McCain is B o r i n g.

#36 Posted by truthmatters on July 25, 2008 at 5:35 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Also, get your facts straight, (that's asking a lot I know) Obama worked in poor neighborhoods blighted by the steel industry's lay offs. He tried to find them jobs. You have to be pretty low to dis something like that.

Also, Barack doesn't believe in welfare without work. Again it shows me you haven't listened to a thing he's said.

I suggest you turn off Limbaugh and the Right Wing media long enough to hear from the horse's mouth what he believes.

You know, you guys, this gets pretty tiring listening to your daily twisting of the facts. If I want to hear that stuff, I, myself, can turn on Limbaugh and FOX etc. and tune out the rest of the world. Then I'd be as dumb about these things as you.

#37 Posted by truthmatters on July 25, 2008 at 5:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Don't worry, truth. I stopped reading most of your rants a while ago. I get to the top then go to the bottom and then suddenly it's like that song Helter Skelter running through my head.

When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn
and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Do you don't you want me to love you
I'm coming down fast but I'm miles above you
Tell me tell me come on tell me the answer
and you may be a lover but you ain't no dancer

Go helter skelter
helter skelter
helter skelter
Yeah, hu, hu
I will you won't you want me to make you
I'm coming down fast but don't let me break you
Tell me tell me tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain't no dancer

Look out
Helter skelter
helter skelter
helter skelter
Yeah, hu, hu
Look out cause here she comes

When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn
and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Well will you won't you want me to make you
I'm coming down fast but don't let me break you
Tell me tell me tell me the answer
You may be a lover but you ain't no dancer

Look out
Helter skelter
helter skelter
helter skelter
Yeah, hu,

Helter Skelter
She's coming down fast
Yes she is
Yes she is
coming down fast

See how easy it is?

truthmatters,

Here's why I "currently" support McCain and it is one simple reason, he is not Barry Obama. It is really that simple.

I liked Barry's statement in Wisconsin favoring vouchers, but when he changed in favor of teachers unions over inner city kid's future, he became the typical race whor Jessie, Bobby Rush, his old law firm boss & the rest. Living off the suffering of minorities and not doing anything to help. Look at all the money that went through his hands and see what good it did. Nothing.

Other than that, I didn't like his primary socialistic policies, then I didn't go for most of his "revised" left/centrist general elections policies.

If Hillary comes out of Denver, I will lean her way, but it is McCain's VP nominee that will be key with me. If it is the wrong one, and Barack has a good one, I'll do exactly what you are doing, taking a big chance on Barack.

But the associations he had with his "friends" and "neighbors" and "mentors" still scares the snot out of me.

You and I have a few things in common, based on many of your posts, but Barry does not even come close to getting near those values.

Shutting down, lightning getting close.

No need to respond, Ill just read one your old posts saying La la La, Not true, its a lie La la La, Not true, its a lie La la La, Not true, its a lie La la La, Not true, its a lie La la La, Not true, its a lie

Trial Lawyers or "ambulance chasers. I'd rather get 66% or 75% of something rather than nothing from big business or any business for that matter, besides a "trickle down" paycheck from McDonalds or its ilk. GOP sweatshop philosophy is for "golden parachute" mentalities. Gofishin!

Something good about Edwards? OK. He uses airport restrooms for what they were designed. Republican Congressmen use them for speed dating. Same with restrooms in public parks, a common place to score for Fl. Republican Congressmen.

Interesting how the neocons are sooo interested with what occurs in others bedrooms yet satisfy their urges in public places. Hmmmm. Turning over a new page in neocon lexicon? It's not a page in a book they refer to.

"Forgive me, for I have sinned!!!!!" Jimmy Swaggert, darling of the neocon moral majority.

LMAO.

ChiDem, you answered a number of my questions. I appreciate that. Gonefishin claims to know what I say but he doesn't read anything so it's pretty surprising he knows. I guess he shuts out all comments that aren't his. Doesn't even consider them.

Rejoice, FYI I supported Ron Paul when he was running in the Republican Primary, but he got bounced fairly early. He's the one true and very respectable Republican. He doesn't have to resort to lying or bashing his opponents. He say clearly what he's for, and that's who he's been for many years.

And also Rejoice I put my money where my mouth is and also supported Ron Paul's campaign financially. I am a true Republican, but there aren't any running.

So, I took my second choice and that was Obama.

When I think of some of the great things that Ron Paul put forth I thought how much they would have helped this country.

I liked the FAIR Tax which he supported. I especially liked his non interventionism in the rest of the world. I thought his idea that we get out of the Middle East and close just about all our military bases around the world was an excellent idea.

He was a Libertarian Republican who believed in smaller government. I also think he would have reduced our terrible debt and strengthened our dollar.

But Obama, though we differ on a number of things, is closer to what I'm looking for than McCain who would give us more of what we've got and what we can't stand more of and maybe even be worse. I don't want to reward these Neo Con Republicans. I want our old party back, and we'll never get it by supporting more of the same.

Well, you won't be reading this Gonefishin, but incase you eye mistakenly glances down, I won't bother to answer for you your blogs, however, I will answer them so your screwy lies don't hang out there.

BTW, I'll bet Republicans are split about Bush's going to the Olympic Games in China. But I have to tell you, this is one of a few things I do support Bush on.

Umleed, I didn't hear the remark you referred to. If Obama said as you said he did, then it would be wrong. But, I can't think that Obama would say something like that that could be easily disproven.

If I take your word for it, then it was wrong. However, I would like to hear more about it because it's dumb, and Barack's not dumb. He's smarter than to make that kind of mistake.

Could you tell me where you heard that?

unleed,

I guess the lesson to be learned here is that you shouldn't ask a question that you might not like the answer to.

Here's another one you might enjoy, it shows a younger looking Obama lying through his teeth about the war. I sense his story starting to unravel as more and more Americans see through him.

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.”

Rambosk is within his rights to wear a green sport coat.

He can also wear a Florida Sheriff's Association lapel pin. He is a member.

If you or Mr Otino don't like it, join the FSA yourself and get one of your own.

Cry. Cry. Cry.

I have nothing bad to say about Ortino. I met him once and he seemed very nice. I am not capaigning for anyone and could care less who you all vote for. That being said, I hate liars who use the ends (Ortino getting elected) to justify the means (flushing their integrity down the toilet).

Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
