The Collier County Courthouse was evacuated shortly after 8 a.m., after the Collier County Sheriff's Office received a call that there was a bomb at the courthouse.

The Collier Sheriff's Office finished its search of the Collier County Courthouse around 11 a.m. Friday.

Spokeswoman Michelle Batten said the search didn't find anything suspicious, but sheriff's deputies will be following up on leads.

The courthouse will open to the staff at 1 p.m., and to the public at 1:30 p.m.

POSTED EARLIER:

The Collier County Courthouse was evacuated shortly after 8 a.m., after the Collier County Sheriff's Office received a call that there was a bomb at the courthouse.

The call came into dispatch at 8:11 a.m., and the courthouse was evacuated shortly after, said sheriff's office spokeswoman Michelle Batten.

Batten said the sheriff's office is conducting a search of the building, and presume everything will be open early this afternoon.

POSTED EARLIER:

A bomb threat forced the evacuation of the Collier County courthouse in East Naples this morning. Sheriff's officials would only confirm that a bomb threat had been reported. They would not give additional details, such as if the threat was from a telephone call or other means. Deputies referred all questions to a courthouse employee, even though the facility had been evacuated.

They must not really think there is anything there because they didn't evacuate any of the buildings surrounding the courthouse.

I love it,

"Batten said the sheriff's office is conducting a search of the building, and pressume everything will be open early this afternoon."

Unless they find a bomb or something, right?

Doubt it was so sinister. Given the time, I put my $$ on someone running late for a 9:00 court appearance.

I SERIOUSLY think it was the Estero man, Mr. Tozzi, who had a hearing to revoke his bond. I believe he had one of his buddies do the dirty deed. Unfortunately for Mr. Tozzi, he was arrested on 20 other counts of fraud and was in the Lee Co. jail.... but I still believe he had something to do with it. He knew he'd be heading back to jail. He just didn't plan on getting arrested on other counts in another county. What are friends for?

Seriously, Mr. Hunter... check out the source of the bomb threat and I have a feeling it may lead back to Mr. Tozzi and his buddies.
