Go get 'em Ortino! You are the next sheriff. I know that once the audience at the debate tomorrow hear what you have to say, and the words of your opponents, that they too will be voting ORTINO in August. Finally, Collier County will get a sheriff that takes his deputies, the citizens and the budget seriously! Go get 'em Ortino!

I agree, go get em Ortino! I will be in the audience tomorrow, rooting for you! And I will do all I can to prove to anyone else that you are the best choice for sheriff. But, its so obvious that it won't take much convincing!

In the last debates between the sheriff candidates, Rambosk skirted the issues and denied there are any problems in the CCSO or how it is run. Ortino cited examples and provided solutions. Rambosk made dumb comments like he would send non certified deputies to noise complaints. Gimme a break! I bet the debate tomorrow will be the same. The same old song and dance and smoke and mirrors from Rambosk and more enthusiasm, innovation, and fresh perspectives and a willingness to fix the problems from Ortino. Like so many others have been saying, go get 'em Ortino!

Good luck to all the candidates, will be interesting how they all handle themselves.
I would love to see what Ortino has to say and has to offer if he is elected.

Victor Ortino will dazzle them with brilliance, while the others will try to baffle them with bull crap. Go Victor, our next Sheriff.

Attention All Collier Countians. If you want the same degreee of expertise that you have enjoyed under Sheriff Hunter then vote for Kevin Rambosk. He is the ultimate professional. The other two guys are wanabes

Have any of you ever listened to the three debate? I have and I can tell you Kevin Rambosk outmatched each with knowledge, integrity and enthusiasm. Count Vinny out, but he is entertaining. At the last one, when asked questions from the audience, Ortino either did “not have all the facts to comment” or basically agreed with Rambosk. I predict more of the same but I’d put money on Ortino spending his opening time crying about Rambosk still being employed while running for Sheriff. I still have heard nothing from Ortino that gives me a good feeling about him running a large, complicated agency such as this.

#8 Posted by Ry42 on May 12, 2008 at 6:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Could someone tell me what qualifications Ortino has to run as the Head Law Enforcement Officer for Collier County other than he is a good guy? Years as LEO? College? Schools and courses relating to business, government and police administration? Experience with programs dealing with community affairs? Experience with LEO partnerships at the local, state and federal level? Anything other than he was a cop for several years and he's great. Change is not a qualification. So I don't want you to waste your time with that one.

#9 Posted by mississippi on May 12, 2008 at 7:08 p.m. (Suggest removal)

The United States Air Force, as all Military trained law enforcement officers are the top in the country for law enforcement. Ortino has Military experience , Florida Highway Patrol, as well as 24 years as legal investigator and business owner. Kevin has been appointed to every job he has ever had and has less law enforcement and legal background then Ortino. Ortino is qualified! Redgold what are you afraid of?

#10 Posted by Citizen1007 on May 12, 2008 at 7:21 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Legal investigator? I said don't watse your time.

#11 Posted by mississippi on May 12, 2008 at 7:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Citizen, so by appointed, I guess you mean not qualified or earned? If so, some facts please.

#12 Posted by Ry42 on May 12, 2008 at 7:36 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Seems to me that the Rambosk supporters are running scared. I know quite a bit about the so-called expertise at the CCSO under the current regime. It is past time for a change. The stagnation, arrogance, conciet, lack of integrity, dubious character, conditioning deputies to act like thugs instead of professionals, changing and making rules/policies to fit the moment or a situation so as not to be too inconvenient to abide... ask any deputy, any of the rank-and-file deputies, not the glorious commanders and chiefs and captains... and you too will be enlightened. It is time for a change. ORTINO.

#13 Posted by Toesmom on May 12, 2008 at 7:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Redgold , why did you even bother asking the question when it seems you already had plans to vote for Rambosk anyways? LOL

So military experience , law enforcement background and current successful business owner don't qualify redgold?

CCSO with all due respect is a business as well as an LEO agency. With a mulitmillion dollar budget, doesn't operating a business count for something?

If you dig far enough back, to oh say before 1988, Hunter was an accountant before he was a cop, and he spent very little if any time on the street.

#14 Posted by Jadip811 on May 12, 2008 at 8:18 p.m. (Suggest removal)

If it's qualifications the people in this blog seem to want, then let's look at the facts. Kevin Rambosk - college degrees, FBI National Academy (look this one up, it's the "Harvard Medical School" of law enforcement credentials).Rose thru the Naples PD ranks from patrolman to chief, then became the Naples city manager! He's been there and done it all! He is a cop's cop who can balance a budget and read a financial statement. He is an extraordinary father to his two sons and a dedicated and loving husband.

Kevin Rambosk has been a loyal, trusting and courageous police officer his entire career. Collier County S O is one of the largest departments in the entire nation. Kevin Rambosk is the ONLY candidate that can do this job and help our Sheriff's Office progress into the future. Don't be clouded by these other candidates shouting "change, change, change." If something isn't broken don't try and fix it.

There are no issues facing the CCSO that Kevin Rambosk can't handle, and do it in a professional, ethical, and forthright manner.Open your eyes neighbors...this man has been here his entire career serving all of us. He desires NO power, but instead simply to serve.

#15 Posted by MarcoRobert on May 12, 2008 at 8:19 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Toesmom, please spare us. So you are married or related to a disgruntled deputy. It's funny you think we Rambosk supporters are running scared when it's so apparent that there is no contest. AND, I do know many rank-and-file deputies and only know of one supporting Vic. And no, they are not scared or intimidated to say who they support. Good luck, you'll need it. Just look at the donations, not just the amount, but the number of donors. Let’s say those are votes.

#16 Posted by Ry42 on May 12, 2008 at 8:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Still waiting for qualifications.

Jadip, I meant be specific.

To be honest I already know so don't worry about it. Go to the entertainment section and blog about the movies.

#17 Posted by mississippi on May 12, 2008 at 8:49 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sorry Ry42 I'm not married or related to a disgruntled deputy. I know many deputies who support Ortino. Not just deputies but non certified employees too along with so many members of the public I can't keep track. People are ready for a change & ready for the corruption to come to light.

#18 Posted by Toesmom on May 12, 2008 at 9:04 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Toes,

They are ready for change. They're ready for a Rambosk victory! A landslide.

These other two jokers should stay home and stop wasting the voters' time.

#19 Posted by sunnidaz on May 12, 2008 at 9:18 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Rambosk is not change that's why Ortino will have the victory. The people are ready for change. Your man is Hunter all over. Rambosk shouldn't of made the deal 4 years ago not to run he should of run back then & he probably would of won.

#20 Posted by Toesmom on May 12, 2008 at 9:22 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Toesmom,

There it is again, what change?

What would Ortino change?

Go ahead, you must have some theory on what policies or tax dollar saving plans he will give to us Collier residents.

Community Policing programs?, Burglary suppression? Drugs?, DUI? Forfeiture and seizure policies? Fuel consumption? Employee insurance? Retirement?

anyone........

#21 Posted by mississippi on May 12, 2008 at 9:24 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Momstoe,
Maybe you should detail the corruption you speak about in the CCSO. Then maybe you should detail Victor's excellent career in the FHP. Before & after he was fired. Then you should detail how he hires officers that have been fired by the CCSO after internal affairs investigations(bad guys). Can you please enlighten us all? I attended the debate sponsored by the Corkscrew Community. Victor made charges that he couldn't back up. He didn't have anything new. BTW, running a small business is nothing like being in charge of the CCSO.

#22 Posted by ww2vet on May 13, 2008 at 7:32 a.m. (Suggest removal)

All this talk about change is ridiculous....lets talk about Ortino and his history of changes:

Changed the truth about time worked
Changed from a trooper to a small time private eye
Changed wives
Changed the amount of support given to his children

This is the kind of change we could expect from Ortino? NO THANKS!

VOTE RAMBOSK!!!!

I have spoken with many officers about this. They would be very concerned if Ortino gets elected. Most have little or no respect for him. They have a legitimate concern that he would re-hire officers fired for illegal/immoral behavior. They fear retribution from these people. Now, how can you explain that away? Is this the "change" that he would bring?

#24 Posted by Estatesdude on May 13, 2008 at 7:48 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I have an honest question about Kevin Rambosk. Why did he leave as Naples City Manager?
He "retired" from the City of Naples in 2003 to run against Hunter correct?

I've researched and cannot find anything, nothing good nor bad about why he left the City of Naples.

But in 2003 wasn't he running AGAINST Hunter to become Collier County Sheriff?

Isn't that kind of odd that he was running against Hunter and then he accepts a job in 2003 as a Captain of the Organized Crime Division?

And then in 2005 becomes Hunters second in command?

2 years from rival to brother? Kind of interesting , don't you think?

It seems that Hunter has been grooming him to take over his position for a few years. Why else would Hunter accept his rival opponent in a Sheriffs' race as a captain and then second in command within 2 years.

Just wondering if they were close personal friends before 2003 when Rambosk ran against Hunter?

#25 Posted by Jadip811 on May 13, 2008 at 4:54 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It is PURELY a SIN that VINNY and VICTOR are able to run for Sheriff! Rambosk is THE ONLY candidate with crudentials ! Vinny will tell you he has been a security manager with "Black and Decker"! Well that means he can run an agency with a 150 million dollar budget! He has a better chance of hitting lotto to pay for his bail when he was arrested a few months back!
Victor Ortino says people in Law Enforcement STAY FOR a career of twenty plus years..??? Why is it that he left after 4 years?? Maybe because he got into trouble while on the job??
IT is CLEAR who is the ONLY candidate that can lead Collier County into the future.. RAMBOSK!!!
MOST importantly... The select people who have been FIRED from the Sheriff's Office for criminal activity, seem to be the biggest supporters of ORTINO!! What does that tell you..
IF the citizens of Collier County have any sense what so ever.. SAVE YOURSELF from the sinking TITANIC and vote for the ONLY CANDIDATE..... RAMBOSK 08"

#26 Posted by Right_on_11 on May 13, 2008 at 8:15 p.m. (Suggest removal)

The troopers do not deny the charges, but say such claims were routine for years in Collier County, and were never questioned by superiors.

Vote KEVIN RAMBOSK on August 26!

Toesmom,

You said "ask any deputy". I did and continue to do so. I have spoken to many patrol deputies, some detectives and even some of their special operations people. So far it's Rambosk 46, Ortino 0. Having only asked 46 CCSD people so far, I realize it's too soon to make a prediction but I will keep you posted.
