The Fort Myers Miracle slugged three home runs and 13 hits Tuesday night en route to a 10-6 victory over the host Sarasota Reds in Florida State League play.
The Miracle went ahead 1-0 in the first on Johnny Woodard’s RBI double to center, then Fort Myers blew the game open with three-run innings in the third and fourth.
Danny Valencia put Fort Myers ahead 3-0 with a two-run triple in the third, and Edward Ovalle capped the inning with a sacrifice fly. Rene Tosoni and Valencia hit back-to-back homers in the fourth, with Tosoni’s knocking in a pair.
Ovalle went deep in the sixth to score a pair and make it 9-5.
Fort Myers will return to Hammond Stadium for the rubber match of the three-game set at 7 tonight. The game is “Islands Night, sponsored by Bailey’s General Store,” with a pregame parade and island festivities throughout the evening.
