Naples High School graduate Kris Tamulis had her second top-25 finish in four events on the LPGA Tour on Sunday, tying for 22nd at the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill.
Last month, Tamulis tied for 13th at the Corona Championship in Mexico.
The strong finishes moved Tamulis to 72nd on the money list. The top 90 at the end of the season earn exempt status for 2009. Tamulis has non-exempt status, meaning she’s not guaranteed to get in every event.
“Every year I’ve gotten better,’’ Tamulis said. “I’ve made more money every year. I’m pretty happy with what I do. I’ve bought a house. I can afford to do more things.’’
Yet, there are times the Florida State graduate thinks about the stability of having a “real’’ job.
“I would say that’s the toughest thing,’’ she said. “But this is the only thing I know. I’ve been doing this my whole life. I’m pretty successful at it.’’

Marco Island resident Tee McCabe is taking this week off. And that included Tuesday’s U.S. Open local qualifier at Naples National.
McCabe finished in a tie for eighth in the Fort Smith Classic in Arkansas and moved up to 12th on the money list.
McCabe said Tuesday that he didn’t want to alter his plan to have the entire week off.
“I’m trying to make it to the PGA Tour,’’ said McCabe, who hopes to do so by finishing in the top 25 on the Nationwide Tour money list.
The tour is off this week, then McCabe will play in the next three events.

Fort Myers’ George McNeill missed the cut at The Players Championship on Friday. He shot 77-74 in his first appearance.
But caddie Kenny Tolles was up on a different leader board earlier in the week.
It’s become tradition for caddies to take their shot at the island green on No. 17 from a special tee during practice rounds. Tolles was leading at 11 feet, seven inches for a while. He finished fourth; Jeff Willett, Brian Bateman’s caddie, hit a shot to one foot, five inches.
“I got some air time,’’ Tolles said Tuesday after no-carding at the U.S. Open local qualifier at Naples National. “The Golf Channel showed the shot. That’s a nervous shot right there, for sure. I was happy just to get it on the green.’’
Sixty-three of the 117 caddies who participated hit their ball in the water.
McNeill is off this week and will return to the tour at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.
Naples resident Rocco Mediate, who moved from Ponte Vedra Beach to Naples, tied for 54th in his former hometown. Mediate had a 79 on Sunday.
Mediate also is off this week.
