Your News: Girl Scout college scholarships awarded

— Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. awarded $1,000 college scholarships to ten graduating Senior Girl Scouts at its annual meeting held April 19 in Sarasota. Scholarship eligibility is based on a girl’s involvement in Girl Scouts, her academic achievements, and her service to the community. Each of the following girls was awarded a $1,000 Girl Scout college scholarship:

SARASOTA COUNTY:

• Casey Altier, Sarasota

• Kate Magill, Sarasota

• Nicole Riccardo, Sarasota

• Kristina Smithman, Sarasota

• Lauren Waite, Sarasota

LEE COUNTY:

• Megan Getter, Fort Myers

• Brittany Fiore, Cape Coral

HENDRY COUNTY:

• Milca Bellegarde, Immokalee

• Johane Breme, Immokalee

• Crisna Paul, Immokalee

The Girl Scout scholarship fund was established in 1987 by the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. and recently named the Dr. Elinor Crawford Girl Scout College Scholarship Fund of Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. in honor of its chair, who has served in that position for 20 years.

Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. is chartered by the Girl Scout of the USA and serves more than 10,000 girls in Manatee, Hardee, Highlands, Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte, Glades, Lee, Hendry, and Collier counties.
