A nearly 12-hour standoff came to an end Friday night after a 22-year-old man, who had been holed up in his East Naples home since about 7:30 a.m., came out peacefully.

Rolando Quintana Jr., 267 Rose Apple Lane, was charged with domestic violence and aggravated battery after authorities said he shot his father.

Quintana’s father arrived at Physicians Regional Medical Center-Collier Boulevard Friday morning with non-life threatening injuries, Collier County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Karie Partington said. He had been shot during an argument with his son, investigators said.

Quintana is also a suspect in an early morning burglary at a neighbor’s home where guns and tools were stolen.

Anton Refregier, 64, who lives at 264 Rose Apple Lane off of Sabal Palm Road, said he and some friends were playing cards with Quintana on Thursday night. Around 10 p.m. Refregier went to sleep.

"Early (Friday) morning, about 7 o’clock, I heard somebody knocking on my door," Refregier said. "It was the kid next door asking me if I would take his girlfriend to the store.’’

Quintana told Refregier that his girlfriend, whose name was also not released, was having female problems and needed to purchase some items. Quintana and his girlfriend didn’t have a car or driver licenses, Refregier said, so he agreed to drive her there.

"I took her up to a store. It was kind of strange because she got cigarettes and a newspaper,’’ he said. She didn’t buy any female products.

Around 7:30 a.m., Refregier and the girl returned, and he dropped her off at her house two doors down. Refregier then went home, he said.

"I walked in the back door," Refregier said. "All the drawers are open. Everything had been ransacked."

He said someone took guns and tools, and that the guns were high-powered hunting rifles, assault rifles, shotguns and handguns.

Refregier went next door to confront Quintana, who he described as a short man with scars on his face and tattoos. Quintana denied taking anything.

Quintana told Refregier he saw a car-full of Hispanics leave his driveway, Refregier said.

When deputies arrived, Quintana was barricaded inside his home. The Collier County Property Appraiser’s Web site lists the owner of the home at 267 Rose Apple Lane as Tammy Doxse.

The Collier County and Lee County SWAT teams, the Collier County bomb squad and hostage negotiators arrived on scene, as did the East Naples Fire Department and Collier County Emergency Medical Services. Sheriff’s Office vehicles, fire trucks and news vans lined the street Friday afternoon.

All afternoon under the sweltering sun, the Sheriff’s Office attempted to contact Quintana, who was holed up in the home with a female. It was not immediately clear if the female was Quintana’s girlfriend.

"They tried to talk to him. He would not talk," Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jamie Mosbach said.

Friday evening authorities blew down the home’s door with an explosive device and sent in a robot with a camera, Mosbach said. At 7:30 p.m. Quintana came out peacefully, as did the female he was holed up with.

Quintana was taken away in handcuffs on a stretcher. Both he and the female were transported to area hospitals for observation, Mosbach said, though they appeared to be unharmed.

"A peaceful resolution is what we were looking for and that is what we got," Mosbach said.

It is unclear if any weapons were recovered.

"That’s still under investigation," Mosbach said. "There were firearms taken from the home. He is a suspect in that."

Michael Murphy, who owns the home at 264 Rose Apple Lane, said he was in his bedroom watching television when his home was being burglarized. Murphy, who walks with a cane, spent Friday afternoon sitting in the passenger seat of a small truck off Sabal Palm Road.

"I’m glad I didn’t walk out of there," Murphy said. "If had walked out of my room and confronted them, they would have probably shot me."

Posted early Friday afternoon:

A report of a suspected burglary led to the calling out of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, which has a home surrounded on Rose Apple Lane in East Naples early this afternoon.

At least one person is barricaded inside, authorities said.

Sheriff’s negotiators are trying to contact the person inside, sheriff’s spokeswoman Michelle Batten said around 1:30 p.m.

Deputies believe the person is possibly armed and may have been involved in a shooting that occurred earlier this morning.

“We believe it is related to a home burglary on the same street earlier today,” said Karie Partington, also a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Around 7:30 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident of Rose Apple Lane, which is off Sabal Palm Road, saying his home had been burglarized and guns were stolen, Partington said.

As police were arriving at the scene, a person checked into the emergency room at Physicians Regional Medical Center-Collier Boulevard with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Authorities believe the injury is related to the incident on Rose Apple.

Deputies have surrounded the home, at 267 Rose Apple Lane. A SWAT van is on Rose Apple Lane and Sabal Palm Road is lined with deputy cars and news vehicles.

Deputies have blocked off Sabal Palm Road.

The home’s owner is Tammy Doxse, according to the Collier County Property Appraiser's Web site.

Anton Refregier, 64, of 264 Rose Apple Lane, said it was his home that was burglarized this morning.

He said he was playing cards last night with friends at 10 p.m. with a neighbor, who he described as being in his 20s. About 10 p.m., Refregier said, he went to sleep.

“Early this morning about 7 o’clock, I heard somebody knocking on my door. It was the kid next door asking me if I would take his girlfriend to the store,’’ he said.

Refregier said he was told the woman was having female problems and needed to get something from the store.

The young man and his girlfirend didn’t have a car, he said, so he agreed to drive her there.

“I took her up to a store. It was kind of strange because she got cigarettes and a newspaper,’’ he said, but she didn’t buy any female products.

Around 7:30 a.m., they returned and he dropped her off at the house two doors down from where he lives, then went home, he said.

“I walked in the back door (of his own home). I’m going in ... all the drawers are open. Everything had been ransacked,’’ he said.

He said they took guns and tools, and that the guns were high-powered hunting rifles, assault rifles, shotguns and handguns.

After he realized his house had been burglarized, he said, he went to the nearby home to confront the man in his young 20s.

When confronted, the man in his young 20s said he didn’t take anything, Refregier related.

Refregier and his friends called the Sheriff’s Office and they responded to the scene with the SWAT team.

Anyone want to offer up an educated guess as to the description of the perp utilizing the demographics provided in the story? I have a pretty good mental description of him in my head!

#16 Posted by RockfordGrad on May 16, 2008 at 2:54 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I beg to differ, this is the first time i envoked the word racist and bigot.

At first i thought it was just misinformation, so i informed the bloggers that more often crimes were committed by a race because they were economically challenged, leading to a more difficult time raising the family and less education within the household.

After this attempt failed and the community was still responding negatively towards hispanics and immigrants i thought it must be intolerance. So i told everyone to becareful not to judge a people on the basis of a culture or skin tone because of class structure and eventually corporate greed will come knocking on all of our doors. This message did not reach many people. Maybe two people got the message.

So finally i have come to the conclusion that i live in a very racist town. It is full of xenophobes. I am actually scared that some of these bigots might hurt someone.

As for my name.

I chose that when i decided to way in on the immigration issue in 2006.

Naples and Taco

Where i live

and an Immigrant Food

Just like pizza and hamburger and tacos

We americans are a nation of immigrants and a nation of food. Our food is really just a mix of other cultures.

I wanted a name that was going to show diversity and could later be looked back on as part of the melting pot.

Too late for NaplesPizza or NaplesBurger

so it was NaplesTaco

Taco is now.. an all american food

You cannot convey a message that promotes and/or condones ILLEGAL ALIEN IMMIGRATION into OUR country!!! It falls upon deaf ears and does nothing but become the catalyst for LEGAL TAXPAYING US CITIZENS to voice out against ILLEGAL ALIEN IMMIGRATION which has become the new super cancer of American society!!! This disease is very curable if eradicated quickly by removing all malignant cancerous cells (ILLEGAL ALIENS) from the affected areas and disposing of them (DEPORTING TO HOME COUNTRY) properly.

To keep the cancer from returning, routine monitoring (Securing & Guarding our Borders) will be critical.

Naples Taco, this town isn't full of racists. This blog is full of racists hiding behind computer screens. To hear all the BS that's spouted in here you'd think that a Hispanic person walking down the street in Naples was subject to constant harassment. I have not found the case to be so as I have traveled the highways, biways and thoroughfares of Naples since 1997 as a tanned skin Hispanic person and never ever have had a racist comment directed at me. I have wished for it especially lately but alas not one brave soul has come forward to vocalize their hatred. So, I continue to stockpile my supply of Whoop rear waiting for the day that some idiot decides that this is the day they take their life into their hands by confronting me.
I know I'm not the only hispanic who feels this hatred and longing to get even with the phantasms that roam these blogs. I say phantasm because they somehow are never able to materialize in real life. Do I dare say they don't exist... Maybe they're like aliens...everyone knows about them but have actually never seen one in person.

Did another Miami Cuban steal again? Take them out SWAT team. Naples is starting look like Jose Rafel city. I hope the CCSO SWAT TEAM has some spanish speaking officers on board to talk Jose, Juan, and Miguel out of shooting themselves. Naples Florida = is another Miami in the making just a little farther West. No wonder everyone wants out of Florida.

I think you have some major chips on your shoulders. If you handle yourself like mature and respectable people (no matter the color or race), then you will never have one problem with any racial comments. Waiting for negative comments to be brought upon you, will in fact manifest the occurrence. The situation may not go as planned for you because that particular person may have lost a job to an illegal immigrant and in turn will open up a severe can of "whoop rear." Focus on the positive and rise above any ignorance.

Scorpionstink - Being Hispanic is not an issue, the issue is with ILLEGAL ALIEN IMMIGRANTS who should not be here!!!

To test my theory, stand on the corner of Pine Ridge & 41 on a friday during 5:00 traffic as a Hispanic person in normal attire and keep a record of what verbal and/or physical responses you get from passing motorists.

Do the same the next Friday except, wear a black t-shirt with the verbage "PROUD ILLEGAL ALIEN!!!" in large bright yellow block lettering and compare your results!!!

Please read the disclaimer below!!!

Warning, this may provoke bodily injury and/or Deportation!!!

Scorpion ,you seem to exude quite the ultimate masculinity with your last blog entry.
Your hatred and rage can destroy from within as well grasshopper. I repeat what I said in #3.....Deport them back to Miami.

#31 Posted by RockfordGrad on May 16, 2008 at 4:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I was over there at around noon and had to turn around as the road was blocked off. I spoke with one of the officers and saw a family member who couldn't get home to his barricaded house and he sure didn't look hispanic to me. And to jump to that conclusion is PREJUDICED, not necessarily racist or bigoted. The Sabal Palm road neighborhood is not at all connected with "classic" east Naples, in fact it's a much nicer place to live than any of the new surrounding housing projects and I would be surprised that the place would be bought out for any of that Toll Bro crap.

Wow the race of the person hasn't even been released yet, neither has a description other than "in his 20's" and the usual racist bloggers have already chalked this up to being a Hispanic, amazing. Why don't you wait until the person is identified at the least?

one thing I know is the Doxee family has been around Naples a long time. They have been commercial fishermen for years. They were involved with all the illegal trade in the early eighties like all the rest.

#35 Posted by napolean on May 16, 2008 at 6 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It's amazing how many people use the terms racist or racism without actually know what they mean. A racist is not someone who is biased towards one race as in NaplesTaco's definition; that would be a bigot. A racist is someone that believes that their race is genetically/intrinsically superior to all races. Someone biased against illegal immigrants is neither a racist nor a bigot. Get your facts straight before you start using big words.

Now back on the topic of the article…Thank you CCSO for once again risking your lives to protect the citizens of Collier County.

#36 Posted by Bestcellar on May 16, 2008 at 6:27 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Even by your definition, Bestcellar, most of the above comments qualify as both racist and bigoted. These people comment by just reading an Hispanic name. They don't know the legal status of the person. These people could more easily be white trash, like them. (Oh, I'M sorry...was that bigoted?) It's unbelievably scary what is written in these blogs. Anyone with an Hispanic last name is accused of being here illegally. Maybe you all could learn a thing or two about the beauty of other cultures instead of being so paranoid.

#37 Posted by ocaloca on May 16, 2008 at 7:09 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I swear these people spend their days looking through the paper just to see if someone with a Spanish sounding name did something bad. Just so they can spout their hate for illegals. If the paper doesn't mention a last name, they blame illegal immigrants, too. Get a life!!!!!

Well said Bestcellar....

#39 Posted by JunkYardDog on May 16, 2008 at 7:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Those of you who assume that the escalating racism has not spilled over onto legal Hispanic immigrants or citizens are taking the ostrich approach. I've seen it, heard it, and often have to make my views known because the mob mentality is alive and well in Collier County. I was born and raised here, served my country, have run my own business for years. However, I have darker skin than most and even I am forced to deal with what racism is doing to our beautiful country. It is one thing to advocate for better control of our borders; it's another when that advocacy becomes rabid hatred due to skin color. Lately, I am often ashamed of many of my fellow Americans.

toll brothers bought the land they want and it's to the south of veronawalk. Get your facts straight before commenting, Taco. I LIVE here and I know sabal palm isn't the best street to live on. Ummmm, example written above in this story. But....they have weeded out the crap and there are some nicer homes and more "neighborly" people. There's no longer music playing until 3am on a thursday, dogs barking all night, and drag racing all weekend.

OOPpsss, I must be a racist because I don't care for loud music, cars, and dogs at 3am while I'm trying to sleep.

#43 Posted by FreshFace on May 16, 2008 at 7:54 p.m. (Suggest removal)

AND i HAVE NO idea what ethnic backgrounds were responsible for the music, dogs or racing. It's a melting pot around here. All I know is that they were not good neighbors.

#44 Posted by FreshFace on May 16, 2008 at 7:58 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I am sorry I must have missed something, this street is not trashy, it merely doesn't fit into the norm of Naples living. The people who live on the street are pleasant and the small businesses are going their best to compete with large companies and in many cases succeeding with locald national reputations. I read the article several times and I was unable to find mention of anything that would lead me to believe this was a racially motivated crime. I was on the street today as a passerby caught by circumstances and I felt everyone there behaved responsibly, professionally, and with respect. I am speaking of the community as well as the service personnel who were trying to bring a peaceful resolution to a situation that had gotten out of control. I do not understand how this situation could have provoked so much hatred and vituperativeness among the bloggers...it began to seem that there is so much anger and discontent in Collier County that we may need to re-focus our energies and try to do positive things that make us proud of our community rather than looking for ways to denigrate it. I write this with trepidation as I know I will be the next target of attack but every voice should be heard and even the smallest voice calling for respect and unity can possibly make a difference.

You are probably the kind of person who would help someone if they needed it or be courteous to those you meet. You should not let the blogs bother you. Remain calm and treat others as you would want to be treated. When and if you are challenged by persons who would do you harm respond as needed.

MY OPINION.

To most people it appears to them by comments and public opinion of the legal hispanic community, that it supports the illegals and causes them to lash out at all hispanics. If legal hispanics spoke up publicly against illegals many bloggers would not be so readily to lump all hispanics together.

If you support something either good or bad you are a part of it.

OK, OldNaples #55. You say that the legal Hispanic population needs to speak out against illegals or people will hold them partially responsible and lump them all together. Well, according to this logic, as a white non-Hispanic person, I'd better speak out against some of my fellow white bloggers so I don't get lumped into the same category with those ignorant bigots.

This country was founded on immigration and we were all at one time immigrants but not illegal entry there is a big difference. Call it racist if someone mentions the ethnic background of an latin sounding name but if he or she is an illegal then the post is proper.

I have to agree with Mikeolo. None of these retarded comments have nothing to do with the story. Rolandos mom is American and father is Cuban. That racists crap needs to stop. Get over yourselves and do something productive with your time.

Shame on you. Do something productive with your life, such as taking a course on not using offensive American words when you write posts, or when you speak to others.

The truth is,this people take anything to attack people different than they are ,different in the way they think, look and feel, with different customs,we all know that immigration is just an excuse,as we all see, they attack anybody that is not white, not matter if they are US citizens or legal residents, that is secondary, what it matter is that they are not white so they should go back to where they came from some blind to the fact that many did not come from nowhere they were born here.Just like Gorge Lopez say "many dumb whites ask me what part of Mexico are you from??and I tell them from Los Angeles you dummy.they think US is only white, and many think that it should be that way.

I saw part of a George Lopez stand up routine the other night. He was PROUD that field workers urinated on spinach and that white folks got ecoli. That is the kind of attitude that makes otherwise rational white folks lose their compassion for the poor, poor undocumented (illegal) immigrants that come here to do the jobs that the lazy (overpriced) white folk won't do.

jag0565,

LA is basically part of Mexico due to the HUGE numbers of ILLEGALS in that city!!! And coincidently, LA has one of the highest (if not the highest) crime rates in the country!!! That is probably the reason why you escaped your own "people" to relocate to S.W. Florida!!!

You and/or your family did not feel safe amongst your own race in L.A'!!!

Wow, I just got married and my new last name is Lopez. I hope that doesn't get me harassed.

*ALL* criminals, no matter what race need to be punished appropriately. Unfortunately the illegal immigration issue has brought to the forefront some names, and it has led to the discrimination of lots of upstanding US citizens.

Illegal immigrants are criminals, and should be punished appropriately like I mentioned before.

what-say,remember California,New Mexico,Arizona,Texas were Mexican territory taken by US,when those states were taken,do you think there were empty with no people??that people were Latinos,so you can't have Anglos descendants from Latinos, that is why most over there are Latinos, and Latinos is not equal as illegals.
And right now I don't feel safe anywhere.

I didn't say side to side with rapists, murderers or child molesters. But what they do is ILLEGAL, hence me calling them criminals. There are different degrees of criminal activity and that’s goes along with different degrees of punishment. You took my statement out of context.

If something is ILLEGAL and you do it anyway, then you deserve to be punished APPROPRIATELY for the crime you committed. No matter what RACE you are from.

Hey all you Pro-ILLEGALS out there!!!

I walk into a bank that I do not have an account with and hand a note to the teller that says, "Put all the money in this bag". She/he complies with my demand and I walk out of the bank with thousands of dollars. I get in my car and drive away but, 2-miles down the road several police cars stop me and scores of officers get out with guns drawn.

They search my person and my car finding the thousands of dollars in loot in the big bag the nice bank teller handed me with a smile. They handcuff me,rough me up a little, haul me away to jail, put me in one of those nice orange designer jumpsuits, take a glamour shots photo of me, and post my picture & criminal bio on CCSO's arrest log/ Latin criminal dating website.

I go up infront of the judge the next morning and he asks why I robbed the bank and tells me the consequences that I'm facing. I tell him that I did not rob the bank, I made an UNDOCUMENTED WITHDRAWAL!!!

The judge tells me that he is sorry for the inconvenience, drops all charges, hands me the bag of loot, and tells me to have a nice day!!!

The moral of this story is:

ILLEGAL IS ILLEGAL!!! UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS ARE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ALIENS AND NO MATTER WHAT THE MONIKER USED, THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY, AND MUST BE DEPORTED BACK TO THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN AS DEFINED PER U.S. LAW!!!

#75 Posted by What_Say_You on May 17, 2008 at 1:14 p.m. (Suggest removal)

what-ya,what if I'm that teller,I give you the money 'cause you are good citizen, then I deny it,you swear that I gave it to you as a gift, you still guilty of robbery???now we can keep going with stupid examples that don't have nothing to do each other all day long.
The moral of this story is:
The Government allow them to come here, one thing is say it other is do it.
If the government don't allow illegals to come here
the border would be close long time ago with equipment and human resources ,the companies would have a system to check applicants legal status, the "Not match"letters should have being send to Homeland security, and stiff fines to employees, why none of that has being done??'cause the Gov don't want to.

We think ourself as "The champions of the rule of law"not so,only when is convenient for us,when we need it we have not qualms breaking those rules and laws,a good example:In the Vietnam war,POW were captured, abused, tortured, killed,US ask the viets that hey should be treated as POW and humanly, the Viets say not so,they are common criminals their reason?there were not a formal declaration of war, thus they were not entitlement to POW status.
Back then US want the Viets to complied with the rule of law,The Geneva convention.
And now as we can see at the Guantanamo Bay,the hell with the rule of law, that is just for other countries no the US.
My pony is,don't tell me about the rule of law, that is hypocrisy.

#88 Posted by What_Say_You on May 17, 2008 at 3:13 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Here is an explanation to 80 & 81. It is called 'profiling'. Done almost everywhere to almost everybody almost all the time. Depends on who you are and where you are at any or a specific time of day. An example: you are 55, white, male or female driving your son or daughter's Mustang GT, Subaru WRX, or any young person's car with the dark tinted windows up. A county sheriff will pick your car out of a group going down the street as he/she sits in a parking lot. You are being profiled by that car. Likewise, your son/daughter is driving your S550 Benz with the windows down and the same officer will pick them out of a crowd. They are being profiled because they are too young to have a car like that. Or like up here in a big bad northern city, if I am driving in a black neighborhood and I am white, I am profiled because they (the po-leece) want to know what I am doing there. Got it?

Due to the tragic events that occurred on 9/11, PROFILING has become the unadvertised "NORM" in all walks of life!!! And it WORKS!!!

#90 Posted by What_Say_You on May 17, 2008 at 3:22 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I agree what_say_you about if you're doing something that’s illegal than you should be punished for it. And yes I think that if you're driving without insurance you're a criminal, because you're BREAKING THE LAW that states you must be an insured motorist. It’s very simple, follow the rules.

I agree with the majority of taxpayers that the immigration situation is totally out of control and that ILLEGAL immigrants need to pay the consequences of doing something illegal.

What I don't agree with is the largely anti anyone with a Hispanic name, and I site myself as a perfect example. I'm as white as they come, but I married a (New Jersey born BTW) Puerto Rican man and took his last name of Lopez. Does that mean that If my name were ever in the paper (which it won't, cause I don't pick my nose in no booger zones) I would be declared an illegal and would immediately need to be deported back to Mexico?

We're never going to get the problem solved if our only solution is woman about it hatefully on a local newspaper blog.

#91 Posted by emmylopez on May 17, 2008 at 3:23 p.m. (Suggest removal)

right naples759,but profiling is legal,RACIAL PROFILING is different story,THE MOST US ARROGANT SHERIFF Joe Arpaio use RACIAL PROFILING on his sweeps,he goes to Latino neighborhoods, stops Latino drivers, and they are very good at RACIAL PROFILING,9 out of 10 pulled over are illegals,it help when they pull over just Latinos, but he don't care about 40,000 or more arrest warrants open on his county,he is happy chasing down gardeners and cookers and appearing on tv.

#92 Posted by jagv0565 on May 17, 2008 at 3:29 p.m. (Suggest removal)

WhatSayYou: Were YOU born in this country? As your intelligence is at about a third grade level....at best. Your arrest log statistics prove what? That you are a bigot? Do you know the legal status of those arrested? For you, the fact that they have Latin names is enough to call for deportation.

As far as "legal tax-paying citizens" go, many illegals pay into Social Security and never get anything back. In fact, they contribute millions upon millions of dollars into Social Security. Take that money away and our system will fail very soon.

There are many hard-working illegals, doing jobs our citizens won't do. Only to make a better life for themselves and their families. I don't consider that a crime. If you had nothing to feed your children, maybe you would find yourself singing a different tune. Imagine, starting over in another country just to try to have a better life for yourself.

Why are they needing to leave their countries? Because of the U.S.'s heavy handed politics over the years. They have been beaten down by U.S. administration after administration. I recommend a little Noam Chomsky to anyone who wants the truth.

again emmy I agree with you partially,a coworker of my drove a motorcycle with expired tag, should I call him a criminal??if so he should not be working with us,so is not what we want or wish to call a person is what absolutely are.
And in your second point I agree 100%that is the problem with racist, xenophobes and bigots, take illegals as excuse to express their real feelings,as I always estate,I understand the concerns about illegal immigration but not the hate, that is what make them racist.

What_Say_You, your post # 80 is a classic. A teacher could use it as a particularly aggressive instance of the "enthymeme" - an argument in which an author expects the audience to respond by filling in a conclusion toward which they have guided them. In this case, although you do not state it overtly, you clearly imply we should conclude Hispanics, by nature, are more likely than other folks to commit crimes. A few decades ago, this wink and nod strategy would would have been unnecessary. You could simply insult a whole class of people, knowing many of your listeners would likely nod along with you. Racial and ethnic bias passed for common sense. Heck, in the 1920's even national politicians could get by with talking about "greasers" (I'll give you an example if you like). But then we had the Civil Rights Movement, and overtly bigotted talk was forced into the shadows, resoundly stigmatized in the public arena. Those who wanted to perpetuate racial and ethnic perjudices were forced to resort to inuendo and suggestion -- at least in public places. This is a sign the nation has grown up a bit; on balance we have come to understand causality is a complex thing and that by focusing on surface phenomena such as a person's ethnic heritage or skin color one can easily fail to recognize deeper causes - like economics and history. These days more Americans than not are likely to recognize your rhetorical strategy and dismiss it... or at the least they will know in their bones they would run a serious risk of looking like a fool or a bigot if they were to publically affirm the conclusion you are, in a not so subtle fashion, asking us to draw. Who says the world cannot change?
I predict you, or some one writing in your defense will object I am reading more into this than you actually said. I am. You invited me and the other readers to do so.

Its a socio economical problem that has to be adressed with the corporations first.

Meaning take care of the lobbyist, then congress, then the illegals.

Until that is done nothing will happen.

I have stated this in all forms possible.

Arguing at a community level only creates a divide that is dangerous. We should unite and focus our energies towards the social economical problem.

Until then we are just dividing ourselves and making a bad example for our children.

Who has to say this for you to believe?

McCain? He said it.

Bush? He said it.

Obama? He said it.

The Pope? He said it.

Clinton? She... well i actually havent heard her say it. but i am sure when enough people tell her to she will say it as well.

The only people that have not said are extremist like Tancredo and Brownback. They had their chance and platform and did not get anywhere.

What will it take?

Many here claim sites like NumbersUsa to have the answers.. but that is just another propoganda site.

NumbersUsa is founded by John Tanton. In 1986, Tanton signed a memo that went to WITAN members that some believed went too far in its characterization of Hispanics.

The memo charged that Latin American immigrants brought a culture of political corruption with them to the United States, and that they were unlikely to involve themselves in civil life. He raised the alarm that they will become the majority group in U.S. society. He asked: "Can homo contraceptivus compete with homo progenativa?"

Answering his own rhetorical question, Tanton wrote that "perhaps this is the first instance in which those with their pants up are going to get caught by those with their pants down!...As whites see their power and control over their lives declining, will they go quietly into the night? Or will there be an explosion?"

According to Tanton, "In California 2030, the non-Hispanic Whites and Asians will own the property, have the good jobs and education, speak one language and be mostly Protestant and 'other.' The Blacks and Hispanics will have the poor jobs, will lack education, own little property, speak another language and will be mainly Catholic."

Furthermore, Tanton raised concerns about the "educability" of Hispanics. In 1988, the media published this Tanton memo, which caused a number of former supporters of U.S. English to cut ties with the organization, including Walter Cronkite and eventually its director Linda Chavez, who went on to become an analyst with the Center for Equal Opportunity. John Tanton would also resign from U.S. English over the controversy.

What we face here is a situation with both sides of the gun. Just like La Raza has misguided views that can not be trusted. So does NumbersUsa.
