Collier County Athletic Conference: Barron Collier wins all-sports title

Barron Collier edged Naples to win the Collier County Athletic Conference All-Sports Standings for 2007-08.

The Cougars finished with 315 points for the athletic year, and won the spring with 133 points. Barron Collier won conference titles in girls tennis, boys track, and baseball, and was second in boys tennis and softball.

Naples finished second overall with 279 points for the year, and 133 points in the spring. The Golden Eagles won conference titles in softball and boys tennis, and finished second in boys and girls track and baseball.

Gulf Coast was third with 254 points, followed by Lely (159), Palmetto Ridge (155), Golden Gate (109) and Immokalee (83).

    Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
