The Barron Collier Annual Coaches Awards Dinner was held Wednesday night at the Collier Athletic Club.
The most prestigious award went to Ken Andiorio for the annual Pete Vicarella Service Award, which signifies dedication, commitment, longevity, professionalism and a selfless attitude.
The two other most notable awards handed out by athletic director Jason Mitterwager were the BC Cougar Coach of the Year Award, which went to girls basketball coach Mike Hamburger, and the BC Cougar Executive Leadership and Appreciation Award, which went to interim principal Gary Brown.
Hamburger led the Cougars girls basketball team to its second state title in three years. They lost in the title game in 2007.
Other awards included:
The BC Cougar Newcomer Coach of the Year Award: Mark Ivey.
The BC Cougar Selfless Service and Coaching Award: Chris Claussen.
The BC Cougar Coaching Professionalism Awards (3): Rick Raymer (Baseball), Larry Capasso (Football), Jackie (Burwell) Tiberio (Swiming).
The BC Cougar Day-to-Day Achievement Award: Rebecca Mack.
The BC Cougar C-Ya Around Award: Mary Wagoner.
"We won the CCAC All-Sports Trophy Award and were very competitive statewide in our Cougar athletics, producing a state championship team and several individual champions, as well as several regional championships and many district titles, more than anything here at Barron, we demand our coaches to be leaders and developers of character,'' Mitterwager said.
