The Naples Players is offering a wide variety of workshops and classes for adults and older teens throughout the winter season. These specially designed classes on the performing and technical arts, taught by theatre professionals, will be held at the Sugden Community Theatre at 701 Fifth Avenue South in downtown Naples.
Classes range the gamut from acting and directing to voice and music, dance, and technical theatre. This season, a class on Shakespearean scene study will focus on "King Lear" and "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," while another class will introduce students to the Meisner technique of acting.
Singers and music lovers alike will be able to exercise vocal skills in "A Singing Journey: Explore Your Voice with Dr. Ron," while learning to read music in "Read the Map: Music and Score Reading 101."
For those looking to polish their dancing shoes, there are jazz dance and tap classes at the beginner and intermediate levels, as well as Zumba, a rousing Latin blend of rumba, meringue and salsa.
“These workshops are a great way to learn new skills, have some fun, and even find opportunities to volunteer with The Naples Players,” said Becky Troop, Director of Volunteer Services. “Each year, over the past decade, we’ve expanded our course offerings and recruited the most qualified instructors, while keeping our class fees affordable, so I believe this will be our best year yet.”
Membership in The Naples Players is not required to attend classes.
Classes are beginning now and continue throughout the the winter. To enroll, visit the website at naplesplayers.org or call (239) 434-7340 x10. For specific questions about classes, please contact Becky Troop, Director of Volunteer Services at (239) 434-7340 x14.
