College sports: Ave Maria University roundup

— The Ave Maria University men's soccer team beat Florida College, 2-1, on Saturday night at Ave Maria.

The Gyrenes (3-4-1) play at home against Johnson & Wales University on Friday at 5 p.m.

The women's soccer team, coming off a 24-0 loss to Northwood, fell to Florida College, 2-1. The Gyrenes (1-5) play at Florida College on Oct. 11.

The Gyrenes' volleyball team lost its fifth and sixth straight matches on Saturday, getting swept by Florida College and Northwood in West Palm Beach. Ave Maria also lost 3-0 to Clearwater Christian College and Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday in West Palm, and 3-0 to Southeastern University in Lakeland on Wednesday.

The Gyrenes (5-16) next play on Oct. 11 at St. Thomas.
