Aid for shelter

The Shelter for Abused Women & Children is being aided by the employees of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Collier County with a donation schedule. The office started collecting different items each day since Oct. 6. Today is laundry and detergent. Friday is used cell phones, towels, washcloths and fitted sheets. New clothing for children and non-violent toys were accepted everyday. Information: 252-6879 or 775-3862

Common cents charity

Cole Haan is hosting an open house titled “Common Cents Charity,” with champagne from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Waterside Shops, 5435 U.S. 41 N., Naples. Sample sale

Arts and crafts fair

An arts and crafts fair to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Bonita Springs Elks Lodge, 3231 Coconut Road, Bonita Springs. Spaghetti dinner

A spaghetti dinner to benefit Garrett Kaulbars will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Naples First Church of the Nazarene, 3100 Bialey Lane, Naples. Garrett is 9 years old and has severe aplastic anemia. Money will go to the Kaulbars Medical Fund.

Pet adoptions

October is adopt-a-dog month at the Humane Society Naples with half price adoptions ($37.50) and seniors for seniors. Seniors who adopt a 7-year-old or older will get a complete refund after 30 days. Purebreds and dogs under 20 pounds are not included in the offer. Cats will be two-for-one during October. Pets may be seen from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays through Sundays at 370 Airport-Pulling Road, Naples. Information: 643-1555

Water wars

Lely High School swim team will have a water war with local firefighters at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Golden Gate Aquatic Center, 3300 Santa Barbara Blvd., Naples. New store
