■ “Successful and Beautiful Colorful Containers”: Program for the first meeting of the season of Gulf Coast Garden Club includes a presentation on growing color-rich container gardens. New members, both men and women, are welcome.

■ “A Plumera Safari in Thailand”: A presentation by Luc Vanoorbeeck, owner of Florida Colors Nursery is the topic of the Tropical Flowering Tree Society meeting. Monthly programs include speakers, flowering tree auctions and refreshments. The group is also planning a presence at Fairchild’s Ramble Nov. 8 and 9 at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens.

■ The Naples Orchid Society Annual Orchid Sale including a variety of orchids donated by members of the society, available from $5 up. Members will offer advice and information about growing orchids.

When: Noon to 3 p.m. or until sold out
