NAPLES A pedestrian, later identified as Danny Jefferson, 57, of Immokalee, was killed around 3 a.m. Sunday when he walked into the path of a car on State Road 29 in Immokalee, the Florida Highway Patrol stated in a news release.
The release states that the Jefferson was walking east on the grass shoulder of State Road 29 around 3 a.m. when he suddenly walked into the path of a 1999 Cadillac Seville driven by Jose Ramirez Jr., 18, of Immokalee.
The impact of the crash threw Jefferson for several feet and caused the vehicle to spin out of control. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An updated FHP incident report issued at 11 a.m. states that toxicology reports on Jefferson are pending.
Ramirez and Maria Galan, 17, of Immokalee, a passenger in the vehicle, were not injured in the incident, although initial FHP reports estimated about $2,000 worth of damage to the car. No charges were filed.
