Burglars hit 10 vehicles at Carrabba's, 2 at U.S. 41 hotels in Naples on Saturday

— Collier County Sheriff's deputies are investigating 10 reported car break-ins outside a North Naples restaurant on Saturday, while burglars also hit cars at two hotels along U.S. 41 in Naples at nearly the same time.

The cars were broken into while parked in the parking lot at Carrabba’s Italian Grill, 4320 U.S. 41 N., between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, according to sheriff’s reports. The vehicle windows were shattered and various items were taken, reports said.

Anyone with information should call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239-793-9300 or if you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).

In the city, thieves hit a car and stole a purse at the Gulf Coast Inn, 2555 Ninth St. N., between 7:40 p.m. and 9 p.m. and stole property from a car at the Holiday Inn, 1100 Ninth St. N., between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Anyone with information about the two burglaries in Naples can call Crime Stoppers or the Naples Police and Fire Department at 213-4844.

I was at Carrabaras Sat. night. Good thing I just drive Sebring. The cars I saw with windows broken were luxury cars.

They really need to get better lighting in the parking lot. But , I'm sure the residences behind will complain.

Whatcha sposed to do?????????

;-)

Keep your valuables hidden or take them w/ you.

Why leave a purse in a car at a hotel. Thats just asking for trouble.

This particular Carrabbas has been hit several times in the past. And I bet ya it was in the employee parking lot, where most of them leave things like money, jewelry, and purses in plain sight.

Take your valuables with you, leave the windows of your car down.
WHAT IS SO HARD?

shattered glass along the curb is a popular sight in bad economic times, what can you steal out of a car.

Heck I don't even lock my car doors, there's never anything in it. It's a car not a safety deposit box.

So, I'm Lancaster Country Penna. Dutch!!!
We speak backwards you know. Leave you car windows DOWN. Therefore, no one will have to break them to get in.
You know...outen the lights....the mashed potatoes are all.

OK, now eaglebeak are you a guy? A big guy? Perhaps you will be ok and no one will climb into your car at night and hide in the back seat waiting for you to return. You, too, artdude...never had thoughts about your personal safety?

Trusting folks sometimes get surprised. Lock it up. Safer in the long run.

For the record, I am a pretty big guy and can take care of myself but I lock our vehicles even in the garage.

No BTV, I'm not a big guy, but my husband is.
Just saying, don't leave valuables in your vehicle. is all. Might as well leave the windows down.

eaglebeak, if you go out at night ever alone, please don't leave your windows down. I wish 676 was around to comment on this. Most LEOs will advise you this is a dangerous practice as doing so provides a great hiding spot for a bad guy.

If you don't believe me call CCSO crime prevention. Broken windows can be replaced but you cannot.

I have a neighbor who often leaves his windows down in his driveway. He has had some interesting visitors. Not any humans, but he finally learned his lesson when a raccoon decided to look for some crumbs in his driver's seat...his dog also tried to chase the raccoon out and scratched up his door. An open window is another form of opportunity be it for a critter or a crook!

Obviously leaving valuables out in any vehicle, locked or open is an invitation some will not refuse.

Stay safe! Life is too short as it is.
