Bay House

799 Walkerbilt Road, Naples

(239) 591-3837, bayhousenaples.com

Hours: Open daily. Lunch served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., dinner 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.. Sunday brunch available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cuisine: Modern, Creole-inspired dishes with particular attention to seafood

Service: Professional, competent and friendly

Atmosphere: Elegant yet homey, both the main dining room and the lounge radiate a cozy feeling

Noise and light levels: The dining room is often packed, but usually not noisy. Lights in the main room are dim enough to create a sophisticated atmosphere, the lounge is brighter and louder.

Prices: Lunch prices are $7 to $19, dinner entrees $21 to $36.

Value: Some of the items on the menu are on the pricier side, especially when it comes to steak, but the freshness of the seafood dishes is well worth the price. The wine list is very reasonably priced.

Recommended dishes: Crispy fried oysters ($13), wild king salmon ($29), low country shrimp and grits ($11), apple pie ($9)

Something else: A three-course tasting menu is available in the summer for $25 (includes a glass of wine). The chef also offers a six-course degustation menu for $60, wine not included.

Verdict: A great place to bring out-of-towners for an elegant lunch or dinner with a view of the river.
