Bonita Beach resident reports possible thefts

— A man who went to get his father’s vehicle — after a woman who was driving it was arrested on drug charges — found evidence the unidentified woman may have stolen some money and jewelry, Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports show.

Douglas Nystrom, 72, of Bonita Beach, on Tuesday called his son, Steven Nystrom, who lives near Fort Lauderdale and said his caretaker had been arrested. The son made arrangements to retrieve the vehicle and found a form filled out to move $4,000 from his father’s retirement account. He then noticed it had been changed to read $14,000. The form had not been sent in, so no money was missing.

The son went to a bank to check on his father’s account and found two recently written checks — one authorized by his father, the other one not authorized by him. The signatures apparently did not match, the report says.

On Wednesday, the father went to the Lee County jail to retrieve some property and he was given his driver license and credit card, in addition to a pawn shop receipt for three necklaces. The necklaces are believed to be the ones the elder Nystrom had given the woman when he was admitted to a hospital.

The son told detectives about $3,000 may have been charged to the credit card. He was going to get the credit card statement.

The investigation is continuing and the woman, who lists a Bonita Springs address but whose name was redacted from the report, remained jailed Thursday.

Yep, they are everywhere.

They are every where. When people need help, the cost of licensed competent help is pretty steep. Consequently the go looking for some one at a more reasonable (in their minds) cost regardless of qualifications or references.

This won't stop. You can pay up front for reliable help or take your chances.

"The necklaces are believed to be the ones the elder Nystrom had given the woman when he was admitted to a hospital"
"Given" or "Entrusted"?
Perhaps an ill-fated romance?
