FGCU volleyball: Eagles fall to 1-4 after loss to Houston

The Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball team dropped its second straight match, falling 3-1 to Houston on Friday morning at the New Mexico State tournament in Las Cruces.

“I was encouraged by what I saw,” FGCU coach Dave Nichols said. “Houston is a very physical team and these matches will have us prepared for conference.”

Ana Kokanovic recorded 15 kills and 12 digs in the 25-16, 25-27, 25-18, 25-21 defeat for her first double-double of the season. Roberta Santos added seven kills, eight digs and 36 assists.

The Eagles (1-4) finish play in Las Cruces today against Utah.
