Former Cape Coral-Mariner High School and Florida Gulf Coast University pitcher Casey Coleman is starting for the Daytona Cubs tonight at 7:05 against the Fort Myers Miracle at Hammond Stadium.
The contest is Game 1 of the best-of-five Florida State League Championship Series.
The Cubs advanced by beating the Palm Beach Cardinals in the decisive third game of their divisional series on Friday. Fort Myers swept two games from Dunedin to win its divisional series.
Coleman, 21, was picked in the 15th round of June's First-Year Player Draft by the Chicago Cubs. Daytona is his third team of the season. He was promoted from Class A Peoria (Ill.) of the Midwest League last month.
Coleman is 1-0, allowing an unearned run in five-inning start against Vero Beach on Aug. 28.
Overall, the right-hander is 4-3 with a 3.11 earned-run average in 13 games, 10 of them starts.
