Blades logo advances in Hockey News contest

The Hockey News extended 40 logo tournament bids throughout North America to the group stage, including the Florida Everblades' logo, which means it's one step closer to being choosen the best logo in hockey.

With the league voting closed, pool play is next and concludes Monday. The advancing 40 teams have all been slotted geographically into four groups of 10. The Everblades' logo is in the Atlantic group.

From there, the top four per pool will be slotted into a single-elimination bracket of 16. Each week votes will determine which logo moves on, until there is a champion.

To vote for the Everblades' logo, click on the "Related Link'' on the left. First-round voting ends Monday.

    Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
