FORT MYERS Lee deputies arrested three men after they broke into a Fort Myers auto shop Sunday evening, the Lee County Sheriff's Office reports.
William Otis Carter, 38, Timothy Frederic Baker, 32, and Gregory Patrick Baker, 37, are charged with burglary to a business and grand theft.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of a burglary in progress around 7:40 p.m. Sunday at A-Expert Tire and Automotive located at 8794 Alico Road in Fort Myers.
The Sheriff's Office gives this report:
An eyewitness reported seeing three individuals located within the business removing tires. The witness contacted the business owner and asked if anyone was supposed to be inside the shop. When the owner said no, the witness contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to report the crime.
The witness tried to stop the three suspects, but they fled the scene in a white, box-style truck. The witness followed the suspects in his own car.
The three suspects exited their vehicle near the entrance to the Botanical Lakes construction site and ran into a wooded area, the report said.
Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene and set up a perimeter. Members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and Aviation Unit responded to the area to help locate the three suspects.
The first suspect located was Gregory Patrick Baker who was found after a canine was deployed.
The second suspect located was Timothy Frederic Baker after dispatch received a call of a suspicious male walking along Treeline Parkway.
The third suspect located was William Otis Carter who was arrested after exiting the wooded area.
