Palmetto Ridge player headed home today from hospital

A Palmetto Ridge High School football player who collapsed a little more than a week ago during a spring practice will be coming home from a Tampa hospital today. Elbrinet Dupras is expected to be released from Tampa General Hospital today and will return home with his father, according to Principal Roy Terry.

While traveling north on Interstate 75, shortly past the Bonita Beach Road exit at approximately mile marker 120 on the east side of the road there is a fairly large lake, and on the far east shore of the lake there is a pair of buildings looking like twin residences. In December 2006, Smith Joseph of Golden Gate was sentenced to 20 months in a state prison for stalking a woman four years earlier. This February, a year after his release from prison, Joseph was arrested on charges he stalked a former neighbor for three months by sending the 26-year-old Golden Gate woman text messages, joining her gym and showing up at her place of employment after she repeatedly refused to date him. Collier County Commissioners long for a vagrant-free environment. Collier Sheriff’s deputies want better control over trespassers. A proposed solution may resolve some of the problems, but could be a great loss for camping enthusiasts. County leaders are refining an amended ordinance that would prohibit camping on public land in the county’s unincorporated neighborhoods, except on designated camp grounds. Full story »
