The decimal point is in the wrong place for Julie Sprague. She has 34.6 not 3.46. I understand a typing mistake, but i just tried calling the NDN three times and was connected with various voicemails after talking with the NDN operator. That is unethical. Come on.

Kind of amazing. The NDN puts out a totally useless poll of 59 votes. Where was it taken, in Rambosk's home precinct? In East Naples? It means nothing. Why does the NDN insist on this stupid tactic?

Can you be a bigger jerk? Why not say something about Vinny losing. There is plenty of time for voters AND the early votes have not been counted nor have the absentee voters.

I am beginning to suspect that the editor is a high school intern as well as the reporter staff.

Pathetic !!

lol - no votes for either commissioner candidate yet? Numbers are kind of low, is this just an NDN staff poll?

ORTINO! The voters of this county know and understand that it is time fot the positive change Ortino will bring to our sheriffs department. And, those voters WANT that change. They are tired of the incumbent who, by the way, was forced to resign from office to avoid prosecution for willful violations of federal law.

Ortino for sheriff. This county cannot afford more of the incumbents mistakes -- costly misktakes.

God for President
God for Sherriff
God for commisioner
Any protest?

No protest from me bible. Only protest I have is when those elected PLAY God.

I thought the poll results were intriguing, until I saw the number of votes contributing to these percentages.

This is like taking a poll of homeowners on your street! Statistically useless.

You can NOT tell me that less than 100 people have voted for Sheriff. This can not be multiple precincts.

#10 Posted by PMK7246 on August 26, 2008 at 3:39 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Call 911. Vinny, Victor, and Linda Abbott are getting killed here!!!!

Geez, you people only show your ignorance when you speak, or type in this case. They do not poll EVERYONE that votes, do you even understand what exit polling is? They ask random people as they exit who they voted for. Those numbers do not reflect eveyone that voted. Geez, you people should look something up before you start typing about it.

At the risk of showing my ignorance, I'd like to say a few things about exit polling. First, exit polls are generally not indicative of the true population until the voting is finished; reason being because different types of people (with different political leanings) tend to vote at different times of the day. Second, while exit polls don't poll everybody, when you're dealing with such a small sample it's very likely that the sample will misrepresent the actual results. And does anyone think the NDN really made rational, informed decisions about the locations to do the exit polling from? The mere fact that they're publishing "running totals" tells me they really don't know what they're doing... and I'm not really sure it's even ethical to publish this information while voting is still going on. But maybe I'm just ignorant.

Your just Ignorant Real ClearTruth.

"Your just Ignorant." That is hilarious and awesome.

#15 Posted by RealClearTruth on August 26, 2008 at 4:38 p.m. (Suggest removal)

what about RealClearTruth's ignorant, diamondgal?

#16 Posted by nap68 on August 26, 2008 at 4:41 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I still think Vinny is going to pull it out. As soon as he and his family cast there votes that will put him over the top!

And that will mean for all you DUI's out there free rides home in the popo mobile!

#17 Posted by factteller1 on August 26, 2008 at 4:52 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I would ask, but I chose to simply enjoy the irony.

#18 Posted by RealClearTruth on August 26, 2008 at 4:53 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I wonder if we can name all 19 voters for Abbott? I'll start it. The Superintendent Dr T, the two women Thompson brought here, the Eden Park principal, the BCHS principal, the LHS VP, Abbott's husband, the parent from NHS, Donovan, and uh...that's all I can think of? Any one else you can think of?
Thompson will probably give her a job with CCPS after the election is over.

#19 Posted by Bugges on August 26, 2008 at 4:54 p.m. (Suggest removal)

oops, she only had 12. I thought it said 19. Sorry. I named 9 in the blog above.

#20 Posted by Bugges on August 26, 2008 at 4:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I agree that the exit polls are not the most accurate method of prediction. They also have the collateral affect of disuading voters from voting if they think that their candidate has either won or lost by a large margin already.

Anyone reading this, don't give up now. If you are an Ortino supporter, don't start mourning yet. If you are a Rambosk supporter, don't wave the checkered flag yet. Get out there and leave no doubt as to whom you want in charge at the CCSD.

#21 Posted by TruthHurtz on August 26, 2008 at 5:08 p.m. (Suggest removal)

sample size is too small to draw conclusions/winners!

#22 Posted by biomanogt on August 26, 2008 at 5:35 p.m. (Suggest removal)

These results could be influenced greatly by just what precencts that these polls are being taken at. The voting patterns vary greatly in the differnt parts of the county. We will know for sure tonight.

Outside of that I must admit that these polls are going along the lines that I figured would happen. Rambosk wins big, Curatolo wins easly and the district four school board race will come down to Sprague and Paterno. That means a run off for that seat in November.

It is a shame that more people are not voting in this important primary.

#23 Posted by swfl_ff on August 26, 2008 at 5:38 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I voted in precinct 430 at about 5:20 this afternoon. The workers there said it had been a slow day. A tally shows up when you put your ballot in -- less than 60 voters at that precinct with only an hour and a half to go...that's pathetic. The people that don't take the time to vote will be the first to complain...

#24 Posted by Frank2 on August 26, 2008 at 6:11 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I can already smell a lot of sore losers coming.. watch out for an investigation or possibly a law suit it seems it already is a trend with this election year..
