On the scene: Ginny Ortino hits campaign trail in support of husband

Posted August 26, 2008

Ginny Ortino hit the campaign trail this morning for her husband, Collier sheriff's candidate Victor Ortino, with a campaign sign in each hand and a bundle of fliers under her arm.

"It's exciting," Ortino said as she tried to get the attention of voters as they walked into the Golden Gate Community Center. "I think we're having a good time."

Ortino said the campaign is gearing up for a big final push between 3 and 7 p.m., when the campaign expects the most voters to turn out to the polls.

"We've got them all covered," she said.

Not to be outdone, Kevin Rambosk backer Mark Pyne, a retired law enforcement officer from Massachusetts, stood next to a "Rambosk for Sheriff" banner on a frame of PVC pipes and propped up against his car in the parking space closest to the community center door.

"We're happy with the voter turnout and are confident of Kevin's chances," Pyne said. -- Eric Staats

ORTINO! The voters of this county know and understand that it is time fot the positive change Ortino will bring to our sheriffs department. And, those voters WANT that change. They are tired of the incumbent who, by the way, was forced to resign from office to avoid prosecution for willful violations of federal law.

Ortino for sheriff. This county cannot afford more of the incumbents mistakes -- costly misktakes.

W-Coyote,

If Ortino wins, how about that Lauer promotion? After disgracing himself and his unit, do you think he is ready to be a sergeant again? After all the work he has done for the campaign after all...

"how did lauer "disgrace" himself? for supporting VO in public?"

Not at all. Each is entitled to their own opinion and their own choice in election. Bravo to him for standing by his man.

That being said, that sergeant disgraced himself and his unit with his actions that resulted in this letter, in his own words:

"I was childish, sophomoric, amateur and failed miserably to adhere to the standards of this agency or to professional management and leadership as a whole."

In any case, my question was posed to W_Coyote, but thanks for asking.
