Collier County sheriff's deputies report that a Golden Gate man missing since this morning has been located and is "safe." Further details were not presented this afternoon. Deputies had been looking for a 74-year-old man with Alzheimer's disease who had been missing since 9:45 a.m. today.

Meliton Almendarez was last seen leaving his residence, walking west on 23rd Avenue Southwest.

Almendarez is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 pounds with salt-and-pepper hair and a gray mustache. He was wearing black pants and a short-sleeve yellow print shirt.

Deputies say Almendarez, who only speaks Spanish, does not have access to car keys or a cell phone.

Deputies are asking anyone who may have seen Almendarez to call CCSO at 793-9300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477.

I saw the CCSO helicopter circling Golden Gate this morning, they must have been looking for this man.

Hope he is found safe.

I'm glad he was located and is safe and sound. I know the CCSO has a unit that focuses on educating the families of Alzheimer's patients so that when these things occur, the CCSO is notified quickly and has the relevant information.

Don't know who found him, but I commend everyone that took part in the search!
GREAT JOB!

I agree with orele - Opinionated, your an A**hole. Too bad your parents didn't know about birth control. Oh that's right - jeeters know about it, they're just too stupit to use it ~ they like to inbreed.

I was KIDDING !!!

orele and kerjolo, you are both idiots for not recognizing a "bad" joke. Lighten up or go back to whatever Spanish country you came from.

Yeah the problem is that you must be always kidding cause all you do is write racial horse feathers. Example... "go back to whatever Spanish country you came from".. well guess what I am not from a Spanish country I am AMERICAN!!!!!!! and I still think your an a**hole.

The funny thing is that everytime I read a annoying racial post, guess what it's almost always you, after a while I get to know the names of who writes what (remember I am Smart cause I am AMERICAN). Oh by the way I don't take pills thats your job.

I'm glad they found him, too. It's pretty cool that when a person is missing like that, they send out phone calls to all the people in the area. I was looking for him when I went out today.

orele - I agree, the taco bell comment was uncalled for. Being from Latin decent I am not too fond of such humor....but I feel it only necessary to point out that your above comment implies superior intelligence due to nationality..... the very thing your posts try to educate against. Misinterpreted - I am sure, but I thought it humorous enough to respond.

Opinionated -

Kidding or not, your comment was totally inappropriate and uncalled for. And your still an a**.

Xandelia - I didn't see where orele's post indicated superior intelligence due to nationality. I think orele's point was that he was not of Latin descent and regardless of this fact, the comment still irritated him.

Opinionated, they nailed you. Look in the mirror, come back a better person.
p.s. I like Taco Bell.

Where is the compassion for a human being in trouble and in need of help???? No wonder this town is going to horse feathers.

Im very happy to read this gentleman was found safe.

I would also like to add that as an avid reader and infrequent poster, I have never once found Opinonated comments to be racist. Perhaps in bad taste, sometimes comical, however, never racist.
