Authorities say a Lehigh Acres man set himself – and in turn, his girlfriend’s house – on fire early Tuesday morning because the woman wouldn’t have sex with him.
Robert J. Costa, 41, of 4745 22nd St., was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with second-degree burns to his body before being flown to Tampa General Hospital for further treatment.
Reports show Costas went to the garage shortly past midnight Tuesday, got a can of gasoline and poured it over his body before telling the woman and her son to leave the residence at 506 Corrine Drive. He then went into the master bedroom and lit himself on fire, according to the report.
According to the report, Costas broke the woman’s cell phone and tore all the phones out of the walls at the residence, so the woman and her son drove to Fire Station 102 to report the incident. Lee Control arrived at the scene a short while later to find Costas on fire, along with the bedroom, part of the hallway, living room and attic of the residence.
Damage to the residence is estimated at $200,000.
The woman said Costas became upset that she wouldn’t have sex with him and said he was “done with everything and decided to end it all.”
Reports show Costas took some of the woman’s medications – including morphine – before lighting himself on fire.
Reports also show Costas changed his mind at one point and tried to put the fire out with the sprayer mechanism on the kitchen sink.

He must be really HOT for her... Oh, Bless his heart hopefully he will seek spirtual and mental help in addition to the burns. Once he finds God through Jesus Christ these rediculous and embarrassing situations will likely stop happening in his life.

I'm pretty sure that God doesn't cure ridiculous and embarrassing things. I'm sure we could site dozens of scandals within the religious community spanning religions of all types.
Back to the story at hand: Ouch. I think choppergirl hit the nail on the head, lets just hope that he'll still be able to get laid ever again. DOH!

Dumb A**!! I think he took the morphine 1rst, was feeling no pain & got his mojo on!! Guess being on fire didn't really hurt too much, 'till the morphine wore off!! Now NOBODY will want to have sex w/ him, as he is a CRISPY CRITTER!! Although, some people DO like their hot dogs WELL done!! Guess he won't have to steal his womans morphine anymore, as he will have quite a supply of his own!! I don't feel ONE bit sorry for this jacka**!! I feel bad for his X woman & her child!! I hope the men in prison like their dogs WELL done!! DUH!! You men DO have a hand, which ya'll use often, he should have thought about that!!
