Massachusetts twins were arrested Monday night after deputies say they threw a party in North Naples and served alcohol to minors.
David Palumbo and Matthew Palumbo, both 19 of Lynnfield, Mass., were charged with hosting an open house party.
Reports say deputies were called to 492 Pine Ave. around 10:30 p.m. to investigate a complaint of a party involving underage drinking.
When they rang the door bell they heard someone inside yell “Cops!” Guests then ran out the back door and began jumping over a fence to flee, although deputies at the rear of the house were able to detain several of them, reports said.
Inside the house deputies found several open cans of beer as well as open bottles of rum, vodka and margarita mixer, according to reports.

Very interesting. How exactly does that work, if the people hosting the party and serving alcohol to minors are themselves under the drinking age as well?

A 98yo exotic dancer from Moorings Park was also present

I wonder how many of us made it through our teens without ever attending a party where alcohol was served. Not exactly front page stuff in most of the world.

I love southwest Florida: scantily clad sushi dancers, Twin party planners, one way car rentals, coyotes getting even, dog dragging drunks, burning houses full of marijuana. All in one day. I think most of the people above, must have been downwind of that grow house burning.

Toooo funny Yes.
Where's the pic of his bro?
Did he have some boo boos from CCSO officers?
Hmmmmmmmm just wondering out loud.
Why one twin photo, and not the other?

This is ridiculous. It's not like these boys even bought the alcohol, they're 19 years old. A verbal reprimand would be sufficient, and any reasonable police officer would realize that. Instead these kids will have this offense on their record for the rest of their lives. Give them some leeway, underage drinking is ongoing, and although they may claim they're making an example out of these kids, the parties involving underage drinking aren't going to stop. Ever.

And this made the news...why? Is it because they are twins? I don't get it.

Yeah, vote for Rambosk. The only way to save us from sushi dancers and college age house parties.
Does Hunter/Rambosk really not get embarrassed over these police actions? Do they really think they are so wonderful?
Just go to a Rambosk dog and pony show with him in full dress uniform and his wife dressed to the nines. They should be on the cover of Vogue. And he wants to be a COP?? Excuse me, I have to throw up!

Since they are twins, they don't need another mug shot!

Great posts from you folks. I can just imagine what some of you would be saying if the deputies did nothing and then one of them got killed later on in the night in a car accident.
Liability my friends. No LEO wants to lose there job over not enforcing policy and the law.
Escpecially when it comes to juveniles or underage drinkers. CCSO has been down that road before.
Why would I expect anything less from the liberal mind set.

I am happy they got arrested. They broke the law, facteller. Good for CCSO. It is just kind of amusing that they are twins and there is only one mug shot. Sometimes is it good to laugh. Sorry to the other person who posted about the lack of need, I missed the comment you posted before I repeated you thoughts.

BlueTonguedVole - Thank you for having common sense.
Common sense is something that is lacking by most of the folks who hate cops and post on these blogs.

Coming to Naples for over 24 years, I am truly disappointed after reading the majority of these blog entries. These are two, innocent young men, who are UNFAIRLY and UNJUSTLY being held responsible for the conduct of a dozen other peers. Isn't it ironic that the young men and women at this house, who ARE NAPLES RESIDENCES, adn therefore probably familiar with this "Open House Party" law were not arrested?
At almost thirty, I have been calling Naples my "second home" since I was six years old. My family pays the same taxes as other full-time residences, and to me, Naples has always been a place that generated warmth of the climate and the heart. HOWEVER, I now realize that such warmth stemmed from the Northerners and Mid-Westerners, who not only strongly stimulate and boost the ecnomony, but project a fair and kind heart. I can honestly not recount one pleasant interaction with a Naples "homegrown", and after seeing the spectacle that this story has been made into I can see why. The ignorance and envy are truly conveyed in these blog entries! I will go to bed tonight being a "Masshole" and truly grateful that I am a residence of a commonwealth that supports fairness and liberalism, instead of the pure ingorance that is inbred (no pun intended) into the minds of the Naples locals.

Clearly the CCSO have nothing better to do then to arrest these two kids for throwing an "open House party". At least they weren't out doing much worse things like robbing, shooting someone or breaking into houses. They were simply having some friends over and doing what is done on every college campus in the United States. The police should have used better judgment and gave them a warning. Trying to make an example out of people from Mass. is not an intelligent way of treating a group of people that fuels the struggling economy of Florida. Without visitors from places like Mass., Florida would not be where it is today. For all you bloggers posting in favor of the treatment of these two youths, wake the f up. Everyone has been involved in an underage drinking situation at one time or another. How would you want to be treated, or your children treated. Florida Residents or not, this is way out of control, shame on you.

I tend to agree with factteller and BTV, they would be coming out of the woodwork if a drunk teen got into a vehicle and killed themselves or someone else.
Wouldn't you rather see them in court then possibly deceased at the medical examiners office?
Lower the drinking age again, let the teens learn as we all have about alcohol and it's possible consequences.

The police responded to a complaint!!! They did what they are paid to do. However, is there really no other crime in Naples? This is the most un-newsworthy story I've read in some time!!! Front page news!!! I have to ask: why weren't there any adults arrested?
#25 Posted by baseballjohn on June 11, 2008 at 10:49 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Wow the ignorance in this forum by some is overwhelming.
LET ME MAKE THIS POINT AS CLEAR AS I CAN MAKE IT:
IT IS AGAINST CCSO POLICY FOR THESE DEPUTIES TO HAVE ACTED CONTRARY TO THE WAY THEY DID. AND YOU SHOULD ALSO READ THE STATUTE ON OPEN HOUSE PARTIES. IT ONLY PERTAINS TO ADULTS RUNNING THE PARTY. NOT TO JUVENILES.
DOES THE ARREST SOUND PETTY YEAH MAYBE, BUT ONCE AGAIN TO DO NOTHING RESULTS IN TO GREAT A LIABILTY FOR THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND THE DEPUTIES HANDLING THE COMPLAINT. DO YOU REALLY THINK THESE DEP'S WOULDNT RATHER BE DOING SOMETHING ELSE?
TWENTY YEARS AGO OR SO YOU COULD GET AWAY WITH DUMPING THE BEER AND A LITTLE SCOLDING. NOT ANYMORE. ONE DEAD KID AND KISS YOUR CAREER GOOD BYE!
THESE DEP'S CAREERS ARE MORE IMPORTANT TO THEM THEN CUTTING A BUNCH OF STRANGERS A BREAK!
From what I can see in this article the dep's acted according to the law and S.O policy. A word to the juveniles out there DON'T DRINK!
#27 - oh by the way Jadip it's nice to finally be in agreement with you about something.

BlueTonguedVole, glad to read that you are amused by this. How pathetic can you be?
Factteller1, you must be the "blog patrolman". How impressive, throwing shots at other bloggers. Clearly you're some disgruntled person, attempting (and I write that word loosely) to sound sage and intelligent. The CCSO have the option to arrest the persons or write a report and issue them a warning. In this case, I believe the deputies, (who were rookies) were trying to prove themselves and these twins are the unfortunate casualty of it.
Is it a coincidence that the Naples youths are the house were not arrested and the Massachusetts twins were?
FACTTELLER1 you are definitely not that smart are you???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#33 - Let’s try one more time shall we?
THESE DEPTUIES HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO TAKE ENFORCEMENT ACTION IF THEY CAN PROVE THE ELEMENTS OF THE CRIME. CCSO POLICY DOES NOT GIVE THEM A CHOICE! I WILL REPEAT THAT ONE MORE TIME; CCSO POLICY DOES NOT GIVE THEM A CHOICE! WHAT PART OF THAT DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND!
LEO’s have many options and discretion whether or not to make arrests or issue citations but not in this case. When it comes to dealing with juveniles it’s a different ball game. I suppose if one of these kids was to be given a warning and later killed as a result of a DUI or alcohol poisoning and the deputy got fired for violating policy I suppose you are going to be the one to step up and pay their mortgage? No probably not you will be post number #1 looking to play GOTCHA for the deputy not doing their job. Which you know nothing about.
“The CCSO have the option to arrest the persons or write a report and issue them a warning” Do you work for CCSO? Obviously not so you don’t know what you are talking about.
Now I can only explain this to you in the most simplest of terms but I can’t make you comprehend it. Maybe have a friend or neighbor help you.
Oh and one more thing rookies? Trust me if a new guy wants to prove himself it's not going to be by busting up a juvy party.
I can assure you an underage drinking party is the last thing any deputy wants to be involved in. But it's their job to do so if called upon.
Next time you might want to get your facts straight.

I never did understand the drinking age limit, they are adults right? After all they can vote, fight and die for our country. It is strange why no one else was arrested.
#30 Posted by weeble on June 11, 2008 at 3:27 p.m. (Suggest removal)
By the way, my earlier comment was sarcastic because snowbirds tend to get blamed for everything in Naples.
Anyway, why the homeowners usually get arrested is that all the other kids bail out or dump their beverages so the police can't charge anyone except the hosts who are responsible for what goes on under their own roof in their presence. Thats what the host law is meant for.
#31 Posted by seapointer on June 11, 2008 at 4:09 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Get your facts straight before mouthingoff. The Mass teens were not again, not drinking. The Naples teens were the ones that got sobriety tests.
Even deputies said that these teens should not be arrested but they have to account for phone tips. The twin teens are being treated unfairly, arrested and only two singled out. Its pretty sad when you come down here to relax and enjoy and doing nothing wrong. Why bother coming to Naples and take the abuse.
#32 Posted by rmassmom on June 11, 2008 at 4:47 p.m. (Suggest removal)
If the facts were correct then people would know that liquor did not play any part of the Mass teens being arrested. Seven teens were renting a house and invited four Naples teens over. Without an invitation several other teens from Naples appeared along with their liquor and they were asked by the Mass teens to leave. When deputies arrived and entered without warrant they put Naples teens on one side and they were allowed to leave. How do two innocent young men who were doing nothing wrong but enjoying their friends and supposedly enjoying Naples pleasant weather relax. They did nothing wrong. They were coerced by deputies into saying that they were in charge when in fact their mother/father were their for supervision.

"Fact Teller," you seem to emphasize strictly by- the-book actions, and use hypothetical scenarios to justify your position. What if, What if, What if. How's this for a 'what if'? What if you took a more sensible approach and analyzed the situation? The fact of the matter is that the party was broken up. Underage drinking stopped, no more noise, no more 'bothering' of the neighbors. Why do you feel the need to take it past that? Oh, that's right, policy over reason.

I guess I can’t do any more to emphasize the point that CCSO deputies do not have any wiggle room in these matters. I made that point in plain English many times but I guess it just can’t get through to some.
I suppose the deputies that were on scene that night should have said oh what the heck with policy I will risk the policy violation and take the disciplinary action for these nice kids or worse.
For the bloggers out there who seem to have comprehension impairment I find it amazing you can actually function in society on a daily basis. Scary thought!
It’s my fault though I should know by now that it’s impossible to reason with that segment of society who subscribes to conspiracy theories and a liberal mindset. What a dangerous combination.
Oh well, maybe on day I will learn my lesson.

That's right, categorize your opponents as conspiracy theorists with liberal mindsets. I'm actually neither, but thanks for your demonization. Shows your level of maturity. As for your "policy" pushing attitude, you have me convinced that we should arrest everybody for every arrestable offense.
