A 24-year-old woman is facing felony charges after deputies say she left three young children outside an Immokalee convenience store in the rain Thursday while she tried to buy beer, sheriff’s deputies said.
Anna Godinas, who gave a general delivery address on her arrest report, was arrested and charged with three counts of child neglect.
Arrest reports say a store clerk told deputies that Godinas entered the Shell station, 617 W. Main St. to buy a six-pack of Bud Light, leaving three children outside in the parking lot unattended. The children, ages 5, 2 and 1, were dirty and standing in the rain, reports said.
The clerk told deputies that she chided Godinas for leaving the children outside to which Godinas replied, “I don’t want them anymore anyway,” arrest reports said.

You need a liecense to drive a car but not to have children. She is 24 with three children. Perhaps birth control would be a better choice for her. I hope they take the children away permanently and give them to a good and loving family!!! And as for her jail seems a good place.

Where is the father? where is the helping hands from the Catholic Church who think birth control is a sin? Sounds like post partum depression to me.

Sounds like a BAD mother to me....let's not blame it on post partum depression....this is child neglect. This woman is endangering her children and is most probably an alcoholic.

Does it matter if she's from Mars?
3 children, left standing in the rain while she buys beer.....
Question should be, #2) where did the beer money come from?
#1) where is the father?
Maybe question #2 is more important.

How disgusting that the NDN would publish this. I could puke. Drunks and freaks and even the most normal, everyday people say outrageous things when they're intoxicated or just angry. I WISH I could forget some of the crap my mother said to me in anger.
How vile and repugnant and irresponsible is it for you to make a broadly distributed public record of such a deplorable and likely untrue scrap of heinous hyperbole. No compassion for the victims here whatsoever. No editorial responsibility. Disgusting. Why don't you just start printing play-by-plays of rapists' confessions? If they said it, we can print it! How many hits did this vile little bit of slime get your website? Maybe you could add "Prurient Salacious Appeals to the Most Base Elements of Human Nature" as a new sales category for web ads.
Shame on you.
Figures this would come out on a Friday.

legal_ right.....yeah, I did many things that are not 'right'. However, one of them is NOT to ignore my childrens needs and leave them standing in the rain...etc.
I do like my beer, but what my children needed and wanted came first.
ANYONE who thinks their needs come before their childrens needs, is WRONG, by my opinion.
SHE IS WRONG!

The facts are there is still a large percentage of the population that never rises above the level of their natural instincts to eat, sleep and breed. Many of them don't have the skills or intelligence to be useful in an increasingly complex industrial/technological society. There is still a demand for manual laborers and service workers so these people can be employed if they are not too diseased or handicapped. Which way western man?

Very funny pippin on the Catholic church comment.
They are ignoring the basics, and the faithful
are suffering as a result.
This is a sad case, and one that this woman will unfortunately regret one day.
Florida's foster care system is so messed up, and hopefully these children will not have to be homeless for long.
Where was Dad for these children?

Does this look like the face of a happy woman?
How many of these postings are by single men who have never looked after a child let alone 3 of this age? I am not excusing this behaviour, but mix it with poverty and low intelligence and it is a lethal combination. How many of you would walk a mile in her shoes? Not many I would think, but so blasteded quick to judge.

Some of these comments are very funny...What exactly does an "American" look like. I have seen a few looking just like her...."America" is a place not a race.
The Catholic Church also does not condone sex unless you plan to have a child. So she wasn't a good Catholic was she?

How sickening when people use this "comment" area to fight. I find it sad that you wouldn't treat people on here the way you would if they were in front of your face, and if that is how you treat people, well then you are just another dead beat in the world contributing to the rapidly growing ANGER problem that we have in this country. How dare you use this area to fight over something so petty and idiotic that it takes away from the meaning of the section. The fact is 3 very young impressionable children are left tonight without a mother, without a father, without anyone remotely familiar in this world to console them. I will keep them in my prayers. And to the rest of you, pick flowers, not fights.

Yadda, yadda, yadda, BLAH, blah, blah, blah, blah, upnorth,maddie4, momrole, scorpian, naplestrek and enigma.
This is a seriously sad case of a mother who chose BEER over her very own CHILDREN.
When a casino sits back, collecting thousands if not, MILLIONS of dollars, and does not improve the quality of life for their community of neighbors, I have a diificult time grasping how this travesty of human nature can happen in this so-called community of Immokalee.
This Mom needs help.....but where will she find it?
It is an unanswered question that will remain in the town that is supported mainly by GAMBLING and FARMING.
Who will win?
Gee, I wonder.

While a facilitator for 'Active Parenting' I recall a young single mom commenting that had they taught parenting in high schoool, she might have avoided becoming a parent.
It seems that most people haven't a clue about how intense child rearing is, especially in the first 10 weeks. After that, most people are desensitized to it all.
Anyway, this is simply another example of how bad our education system has become. It is more important to teach how to have safe sex than to teach what raising a child is really all about.
The nationality of the mother is a distant second or third issue

Sadly this is not a problem confined to any particular race, however poverty certianly is bound to be a contrbuting factor. For those of you who only read the NDN then you may be unaware that this sort of abuse occurs across all economic and racial groups. It is even more sick that you would joke about it when it involves innocent children who did not ask for this childhood. It is always easy to be critcal of those less fortunate, makes you feel more superior. You ask where is the father, well again statistics have shown the number of women left to raise children, while daddy is off planting more seeds is astounding. You can preach birth control all you want, but until you listen to women tell you that they fight their spouses or boyfriends to where condomns and they over power the women or the men who demand that IUD's be removed from their spouses so she can not protect herself from unwanted pregnancies, it is ALWAYS the womens fault, men can and often walk away from their responsibilities. I do not at all condone this womens behavior, but I cannot tolerate your ignorant and evil responses, the problem is nothing new and happens everywhere and just because her reflection is different from your skin color, hopefully you have the foresight to see the bigger picture. Perhaps you might even be bold enough to be thankful your not in her shoes or those of thousands like her and be thankful for where you are and not cast such harsh judgement and put your energies into protecting children born into this cycle.. The writer who suggested that it could be post partum depression, that could also be a contributing factor due to the age of her children. Are we such a harden society thay we have lost compassion, like the video of the man in Conn. who was run over in the street and literally left to die and the town official released the video to the public because he was ouraged that we have lost our moral responsibility.I guess it has become every man or women for themselves, then we can remain in our little oblivious world and occasionally blurt out a blog that makes us feel more superior and safer in our glass houses.

This can be blamed on only one thing... a sure fire case of being a sorry waste of human flesh and oxygen.
Blaming "poverty and low intelligence" does not hold up when there are a number of the mentally and emotionally handicapped raising children every day and holding jobs on their own.

I hope to God that you do not hold any type of job which concerns children.
There is nothing even remotely funny about making jokes at a child's expense, especially children of a parent in this predicament.
I happen to have a great sense of humor, and I don't have to stop so low as to getting a laugh out of some idiot saying that the "kids were thirsty" because the mother was buying beer.
You and upnorth both need to take a class in humanity and compassion.

Kwirthnp...Great Post, The virtue of compassion is becoming a thing of the past. Having 6 children 2 years apart, there were times I said things out of frustration that I didn't really mean. But I had a great Husband and Mother to help me get through those times. I didn't feel worthy of raising children properly. It wasn't the babies fault.
"This to shall pass" is a great motto
Everyone of my children have ask me now that they have children, "How did you do it Mom" ?

I cannot believe how disgusting this woman is. The only thing that surprises me more than this horrible mothers inexcusable behavior is the number of people making excuses for that very behavior. "Were is the father?" or "Where is the church?" or "She was depressed!" or even "She didn't really mean what she said!" to the classic "How dare the news report this poor womans behavior to the public!" This woman ALONE is responsible for what she did. She - acting alone - chose to leave her children unattended in the rain so that she could buy some booze. She - acting on her own - chose to say that she didn't want her kids anymore anyway. No one made her do any of those things and she ALONE is responsible for doing them. She is a callous and unfit mother - not the victim of some media conspiracy, circumstance or law enforcement. She is an irresponsible miscreant who obviously cannot be trusted to raise kids that she should have never had in the first place. She desperately needs to be put in prison and her children desperately need to be taken away from her and put into state custody until suitable homes for them can be found. Irresponsible people such as this woman - and her defenders - have no place in a civilized society.
