President Bush coming to Naples next Friday, ex-lawmaker says

President Bush will visit Naples next Friday for a private luncheon to benefit Florida’s Republican congressional delegation, former Florida Rep. Dudley Goodlette said Friday.

He said details will be coming later from the White House.

“It’s always a momentous occasion when any president (visits Southwest Florida),” said Jeff Cohen, spokesman for Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fort Myers.

Sheriff's officials in Collier and Lee counties on Saturday referred inquiries to the Secret Service, which wasn't immediately able to comment or confirm if a trip is in the works.

President George W. Bush last visited Collier County in April 2004. The visit included attending a $25,000-a-plate fund-raising lunch at the Port Royal home of Jack Donahue, a prominent Naples philanthropist.

The event, according to an April 24, 2004, report in the Naples Daily News, brought in $2.9 million.

Bush also addressed a crowd at Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and made a surprise stop at St. Ann’s Catholic School in downtown Naples.

The 2004 trip blocked off several roads including Airport-Pulling Road, U.S. 41 East, Goodlette-Frank Road and Golden Gate Parkway.

Traffic, in some cases, was backed up for miles.

Hip Hip Horay! The Commander and Chimp is comming in for a fundraiser with his GOP cronies. You leave office in Jan with quite a record as Americas "War President."
Death, Poverty, War, Pain, Ignrance, Blind patriotism, joblessness and abandoned homes...
Your legacy is being written by those who watch as our homes collapse in values. You ruthlessly exploited the deadliest foreign attack on American soil and subsequently terrorized this nation and it's corporate media into giving you more lattitude than you otherwise deserved.
Your entire foreign policy has been constructed around deliberately inciting anti-American sentiment, fueling more war.

It's the war...it's the economy... "bring um on!"

Laughable. It'll all be over in 5 months

Another typical politician visit to Naples. Swoop in, grab a bag full of money and high tale it back out of town. It never changes.

Just one time I would like to see one of the bozos actually take the time to visit the general population here. I know I am dreaming.

Beware- someone in the pentagon told him that there are WMDs in Naples.
And then someone in the CIA told him 9-11 conspirators were hiding in Naples.
Then someone from the state department told him that a regime change in Naples would bring democracy to the region...
I could go on, but I think I'd run out of space.

And for today, maybe some of the spending in Iraq and Afghanistan (I'm sure what you refer to) might not have been needed if Bill Clinton had spent a little more time dealing with threats to national security instead of interns.

Make him pump his own limo with $4.00+++/gallon gas!!! Maybe he will invade Marco over the sewer debate, or he will shoot the Cooper's hawk's for the parking garage, or drill Big Cypress, or he will detain Sue Smith for her remarks at city council, or he will give a free pass to all our illegal immigrants, or he will give Port Royal an another tax break or he will hand Florida over to McCain now.....

This will make me sick to be in Naples the same day as this megalomaniac!!!! On the bright side maybe he will say something so stupid it will make me cringe in dark comedy all week. "Heh, heh, heh, Heh, heh, heh, Heh, heh, heh, Heh, heh, heh.."

If so, hide your women.

But in the meantime, consider the fact (and it is a fact, you can look it up)

The W administration, upon taking office, issued a report on anti-terrorist intelligence, and gave the Clinton administration good grades.

One of the few things they were critical about was the Clinton administration's obsession with this seemingly second rate player by the name of Osama Bin Laden..

Naples is the last place standing that has both money and still supports Bush/Cheney/McSame. I ask Republicans here everyday "how much worse does it need to get before you stop supporting these creeps?" These supporters giving money all have blood on their hands from the immoral, unjust, stupid Bush's war in Iraq. Each dollar given to these neocons helps kill more of our wonderful soldiers in Bush's invasion and occupation of a sovereign country.

This is the year in which Republicans are going to come to join the rest of us in their levels of affection for George W. Bush.

They are the only constituency whom he hasn’t yet taken over a cliff, but that will change on November 4th. Bush won’t be on the ballot. He will be the ballot. Every angry American (hey, only a record-breaking 82 percent of us think the country’s on the wrong track) will be thinking about how much gas costs, about how their expenses are going up, their income is stuck in neutral and their job is headed for India. They’ll be thinking about two wars turned into twin debacles, and the lies associated with them. They’ll be thinking about the dead bodies, the stink of torture, the tortured reputation of their country, and the people who made all of that possible. They’ll be thinking about the mountain of national debt their kids are gonna have to pay back, plus interest, so that the fantastically wealthy in this country could matriculate into becoming obscenely wealthy. They’ll be thinking about environmental destruction. They’ll be thinking about arrogance and incompetence and corruption. They’re gonna want somebody to pay, and – worst of all for the party of Rove and Cheney and Bush – they’re not really afraid anymore

Bush is fixated on Iraq, according to friends and advisers. "Nothing matters except the war," said one person close to Bush. The controversy still rages over the ultimate size of the bill for the war, with some suggesting the cost could reach $3 trillion...
During a recent survey by Historians several charges against the Bush administration arose repeatedly in the comments of historians who responded.
81% of Historians view his Presidency as a failure and the remaining 19% that said the Bush Presidency was a success were being sarcastic... since they said Bush’s presidency is only the best since Clinton’s and one named Millard Fillmore.
The cost of the War, Illegal Immigration, Health Care, Fuel Prices, Food Prices, Real Estate taxes, Education for our children...the list goes on and on...
Lets not forget, Halliburton, the oil services company formerly headed by US Vice-President Cheney, is moving its headquarters from Texas to Dubai and taking their profits with them...

Bush and Cheney are war criminals, and if Congressman Kucinich doesn't get his way with impeachment, I hope the International Community comes after them for their war crimes. Yea, all you liberals keep putting Bush down and blame him for every misfortune. The high gas prices are global, it's not just us.

We need nuclear energy and drilling off of our own shores and we would not need foriegn oil.
But no, you tree hugging bleeding heart liberals have put a stop to that. So we have to pay $4.00 a gallon because of this. Brazil solved their gas woes by doing this, so why not us?

Have we had another attack on our soil since Bush sent troops over seas? And don't forget about the many attacks against us before 911.

America didn't want to bring the war to them, Bush was left with limited choices. Don't forget that they thru the first punch, more than once.

Oh, come on folks! Let's be fair and at least shaw a modicum of espect our President and what he has done for make us safe from terrorsts. Admit that the economy goes up and down in cycles and when people are stupid or greedy and over commit themselves a shake out is very useful as it brings things back into balance. Acknowledge that the press parrots left misconceptions. For example, President Bush had better grades, class-for-class, than Kerry at Yale, yet they persist in labeling him dumb just because he speaks differently and it meets their elitist goals. Stop repeating the lie about our state really voting for Gore, when even the left-wing NYTimes sponsored recount showed Bush won fair and square. I'll vote for McCain, but if Obama becomes our president as is very likely, I will support him as he is our leader. Just as I did for all of our leaders in the past. My parents taught me that, schools reinforced that with the Pledge of Alligence and my oath when I served this great country in the US Army reminded me of that. Lastly, it is indeed reassuring that I believe that 99% of the men and women in the services support our President.

How some people can honestly believe (p)Resident Bush has made us safer from terrorists by invading Iraq is beyond me. The naive and gullible are still alive and well, I see.

al Qaeda has only grown because of Bush taking his eye off the eight ball in Afghanistan. There was no such thing as "al Qaeda in Iraq" before Bush made it possible for them to become that. We were already "fighting them over there" (in Afghanistan) before Bush decided to invade and occupy Iraq. Yesterday 1000's off Taliban escaped prison. We're bogged down using up our resources in an un-necessary was in Iraq to the tune of (so far) half a trillion dollars and 4100+ and counting of our bravest citizens.

waldini202 Iraq didn't attack us first, or at all. Iraq has never done anything to us outside of their own borders. You're clueless.

ironside-why dont you go have a cup a tea with them!!You dumb liberals will get us all killed.

#82 Posted by waldini202 on June 14, 2008 at 10:34 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yo Ironslug...we never said they attack us. He was a butcher, and fighting the terrorist on Iraq turf beats the heck out of fighting them on ours.

Gee maybe Obama can stop the absolute wacko terrorists wanting to kill all christians by chatting with them. We can only pray he tries that approach over there, if you know what I mean.

Clueless huh. Yes you Dems are but hey we won't throw you out of the country because of it.

#83 Posted by sowestfla1975 on June 14, 2008 at 11:09 p.m. (Suggest removal)

What was wrong with fighting them on Afghanistan turf? No oil? Couldn't avenge daddy Bush that way? The war in Iraq has only hindered our efforts on the war on terror and those who attacked us on 9/11/01. You neocons are too deaf, dumb and blind with partisanship to realize it.

Remember 9/11 happened on George Bush's watch after he warned by the Clinton Administration about al Qaeda, a terrorist organization Condoleezza Rice hadn't heard of.

Bush was too busy reneging on the Missile Treaty to care about al Qaeda, and look at where it got us.

Obama in 2008.

McCain only offers the status quo. No thanks.

#86 Posted by FedUp on June 15, 2008 at 2:27 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Bush lied, deceived and misled our great country into an unjust war. I will never forget his confused and ignorant expression while speaking to school children for an hour while our country was being attacked. It was emblamatic of his entire presidency......Katrina: What the hell was he thinking when people were suffering and dying in their homes and streets for days? This is our leader? He is a simple man. He will be judged quickly and harshly for what he has done. Do us all a favor and stay away Bush. How much of taxpayer's money wil be spent for this $$ fundraising trip? What a waste!

Hiel to the Thief he's the Thief who stole our freedom.

Everyone show up in their brown shirts with red SwastiKKKa armbands and spit shined jack boots and bring some books for the book burning. And don't forget the torchlight parade where we will all gooosestep around the podium where he stands with our hands hieling him loudly.

Actually it's quite simple.

Are you better off now, then you were when Bush took office???

"Actually it's quite simple.

Yes much better off then I was before Bush...you would have to be a freaking idiot not to be better off 7 years later.

Either you are lying or you lost a ton of money.

Cutthroat you need to cut back on either the beer, the caffine or both buddy. Crossed what line dude? I still say "one nation under God", I still salute the flag, I stick by my church, and I tell it like it really is. Your boy has zero experience, says whatever he needs to depending on who is listening, shows little respect for the Americans that have fought for this country like my Dad and myself, and is just too full of his preppy done-nothing self.

So fight me moron all you want. Face to face your type go running home to hide and complain, but love the big talk any chance you get.

Don't worry if those very terrorists your type want to cuddle ever do have enough nerve to start something again over here, me and my buds call the Armed Services will save your sniffling little butt along with everyone else.

theshadow.... of Bush/Cheney.

the shaodw is "much better off."

theshadow obviously enjoys:

4.00+ (and rising) gas prices.
High grocery costs.
Unaffordable health care.
Unjust wars.
Spying on American citizens.
High number of foreclosures.
Corporate America headin' to Chins and India in droves.
National suplus turning into record deficits.

Either that or theshadow is one of the elite top 1% whom these issues don't effect.

sowestfla1975 were you born in 1975? If so, you were 16 years old during Desert Storm, and if that's the case the only wars you would have been able fight in would have been Bosnia, Afghanistan, or this war in Iraq.

Which war was it you fought?

This is from a post on my web site from a soldier CURRENTLY serving in Iraq TODAY....

***QUOTE***

I work very hard each day and many projects and although I am 'new' to my field I can take care of any problems that arises in my BCT that involves Imagery. The NGA [cvilian] workers do very little. I work at my mission 12-15 hour day along with other work after my mission.

So where is the money going?:

35G NCOIC (me) - 45k/yr. Deployed, 33k/yr. Garrison
35G NGA Rep. [civilians]- 180k/yr. Deployed, 125k/yr. NGA, CIA, DIA, etc.

Another Example: We have TCNs (Third [World] Country Nationals) that work at BIAP (Baghdad International Airport) at the PX, AT THE PX!!!, that make more money that I do!!! They are from Uganda.

***UNQUOTE***

What a shame! And that quote is posted on our forums for all our members to see.

Obama supports focusing on those whom invaded our country and attacked us on 9/11/01, in Afghanistan and Pakaistan. McCain supports starting a new war with Iran. McCain has learned nothing from Bush's mistakes.

Remember Osama bin Laden? He needs to be broght to justice!

Theshadow...you resorting to name calling says a lot about you...You have nothing to back up your rants except your daily diet of talk radio from the talking heads....especially the one who needed 140 oxycotin pills to make it through the day.

#99 Posted by pippin on June 15, 2008 at 3:46 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Must have hit a nerve there...I don't have time to list to talk radio and living life to the fullest by my own terms give me the only high I need.

You libs need to lay of the haterade....you guys are 10x worse then those conservative during Clinton.

Bush's shadow, if I'm supposed to be offend it didn't work. I consider the source, and simple little people don't bother me, regardless of the insults they hurl my way.

Sorry.

That's because Bush is 10x worse than Clinton.

I most have really hit a nerve...if I am a simple little person that doesn't bother you then why all the responses.

I must be speaking some truth.

It is very amusing that just because I said I did well during the past year I must be attached to Bush. Maybe if you had focused your energy on something other then your hate for Bush you could be better off as well.

Who said I was addressing you?

#104 Posted by theshadow on June 15, 2008 at 5:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)

theshadow (of Bush/Cheney), the reason for my responses is because I served this nation so people like you and me could respond with our own views. It's called Free Speech.

Are you by any chance a Veteran too, or just a chickenhawk? It's easy to support an unjust war from the comfort of your living room, isn't it?

==============================

chickenhawk: One who supports war, but would never fight in one themselves i.e. George Bush. He opt out of Vietnam.

Ironside, you are assuming a whole lot and you what assuming make you?

#106 Posted by theshadow on June 15, 2008 at 8:09 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I am assuming nothing. I am asking a question, nothing more. Are you a military Veteran?

#107 Posted by Ironside on June 15, 2008 at 8:42 p.m. (Suggest removal)

What does military service have to do with anything here? Where did that enter?

Go back and read all the assumptions you are making.

I stated the facts that I am better off then I was 7 years ago. All you gave back are liberal talking points.

#108 Posted by theshadow on June 15, 2008 at 9:06 p.m. (Suggest removal)

It seems you've answered my question by dancing around the answer. Veterans are a proud group of people and have no problem telling others that they are military Veterans.

I served in the United States Army in Germany in the 70s. My unit was HHC 1st Battalion, 37th Armor - Old Ironsides, the 1st Armor Division. That's where I get my username from, Ironside.

This is my website: http://politicalplace.com
It's a site for Veterans and patriots alike.

I write my own argument/debate, I don't need talking points. I know how I feel, and what I have to say.

I was against the war in Iraq from the start. I knew we had a war on terror to fight in Afghanistan and that Saddam Hussein was nothing more than a distraction that could and should have been dealt with at a later time.

I support the efforts in Afghanistan and always have. It's too bad the Bush Administration doesn't and have lost focus on that front, as Osama bin Laden now roams a free man.

#110 Posted by theshadow on June 15, 2008 at 9:46 p.m. (Suggest removal)

The war in Iraq is my passion. It makes me sick to my stomach how some people blindly support sending our brave there, and the half trillion dollars spent in Iraq as our economy suffers. All this while the war on terror goes largely ignored. Yesterday over 1000 Taliban escaped prison in Kabul. The Bush administration has lost focus in Afghanistan. John McCain wants to start another war in Iran. This is insane!

McCain is offering the status quo. He's running for Bush's third term. Not a talking point, just a fact!
