Fort Myers set a daily record for rainfall Saturday, receiving three inches at Page Field, according to the National Weather Service.
The previous record for rainfall on July 12 was 2.43 inches set in 1975.
The heavy rainfall continued through Sunday with the gage at Page Field recording more than two inches.
A gage at the Naples Regional Airport recorded considerably less rain over the weekend. The gage recorded .41 inches on Saturday and .61 inches on Sunday.

misspelled gauge two times in story. how annoying. by the way gauge at airport needs to be checked. i live on collier boulevard 34114 and according to weather . com, we consistently have more rainfall than the airport 5 miles away. almost twice as much.
