Accreditation inspectors to examine Collier Sheriff's Office

— A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. is arriving Saturday for a five-day inspection of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

The inspectors will examine every aspect of the Sheriff’s Office as the agency goes through the process of renewing its national accreditation.

Collier residents can provide input in three ways:

■ At a public information session 7 p.m. Monday at the Professional Development Center, 615 Third Ave. S.,Naples.

■ By telephone Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. by calling (239) 793-9461

■ In writing mailed to CALEA Inc., 10302 Eaton Place, Suite 100, Fairfax, VA, 22030-2215

Since 1994 the Sheriff’s Office has maintained its CALEA accreditation, a prized recognition of professional excellence in the law enforcement industry. Accredited agencies must meet a body of standards that translate to excellence in management and service delivery.

Will the CCSO survive where CCPS cannot and maintain their accreditation??

I am sure they will have no problems as long as they have everything in order.

They will do fine because CALEA doesn't dig into anything too deep. They make sure the paperwork is straight, they don't really evaluate how poorly supervised the agency truly is.

Maybe people should call in or go to the meeting & enlighten them on how poorly supervised the agency is. Sounds interesting.

HEY MOM IS YOUR KID TOE AS DUMB AS YOU? GIVE IT UP ALREADY!

factteller1 you really should watch who you are calling names. What's the matter afraid of what might come out. The truth about all the coverups, corruption, etc. Don't think I'll give it up already. The majority of the CCSO employees are good people but it's the few like you that make it a bad place.

CCPS is on another accreditation planet right now.....as in LOST IN SPACE.

CCSO remains firmly planted here on Earth, so those on a mission to evaluate this agency, can approach and land safely to begin their tasks.

I bet CCSO will even answer the phone, 2!

Toesmom- isnt it a few like these guys (chubby hubby included) that make the CCSO look bad?

Toesmom___ pluuussee, give it up already. The election is over. Stop badmouthing the CCSO, it's like you're spitting in the face of all LEOs.

The department earned it's credentials before and, I'm sure, will again because it is a well managed department...and you need to get over this honest fact.

Toesmom has been telling lies and spreading manure for months. Go ahead Toes, go to the meeting and present your "facts" that you were never able to give here. Toesmom = Mrs Dumas

The CCSO is doing a fine job. If you think you can do better, the last time I checked becoming an officer was a profession of choice.... go for it.

Beetle agrees with theabyss...the CCSO is keeping Collier SAFE.

Meanwhile, kids in Collier can barely read.

Let's talk about CCPS's accreditation shall we?

CALEA accreditation is a joke. Their requirements are controlled by the unions and many of those requirements for accreditation are totally useless.
