Troop 2001 Boy Scout Danny Garren helps build the troop’s annual Haunted House, to be held from 7-9 p.m., Oct. 25-26, at 560 Nursery Lane. Mike Wood, of Ace Hardware, volunteered his time to make this year’s Haunted House a one-of-a-kind stop. Donations of $7 will go to the troop.

Rabbi Edward Maline, of the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island, sounds the traditional shofar to welcome in the High Holidays of the Jewish New Year, known as Rosh Hashanah. The shofar, or carved ram horn, is a traditional instrument used in Temple's dating back thousands of years to Israel. It will also be sounded to mark the end of the Yom Kippur Service.

Homeschool student Hannah Smith contemplates her next move during a free chess program at the Golden Gate Children’s Library. Designed especially for children, the program will be held from 3-4 p.m., Sept. 25 and Oct. 2 and is open to the public. The brand new library offers an expanded childrens section with a variety of programs.
