Great question eaglesbeak. Anyone at NDN want to tackle that one? Needs follow up, don't you think? Jeff Lytle gets to ask people questions. Maybe he can see what the county has to say when asked a direct question about this matter.

Sorry I was redundant in creating a lead in for the link...please ignore the first one!
...and please note, I think what the Board did was wrong.

beetlejuice: you know I like you, but when you say, "They're cleaning schools properly here, period." Well, no they weren't and there are inspections to prove it. Was it just the custodians at fault with the failed inspections? Nope the principals are the captain of the ship and needed to assure the workforce was/is properly supervised and had/has all the appropriate tools.
Perhaps the reporters will want to recheck these inspections and see if there are improvements in the future. The schools are still responsible for the results even if a contractor does the work. The buck should stop with Thompson.
Here's what NBC-2 found:
NBC-2 ran this story last April: http://www.nbc2investigators.com/arti...
Although the links on this webpage are not working now, the reports and newer inspections are on file as public record. You and anyone else can check this out.

beetle: yes, I have and you are right. Maybe they are all out looking for strays, or impounding vicious dogs? Perhaps the kennel needed some cleaning? LOL.

Jack...so this Barr dude...likely to win? LOL He may be running but so are many others like Ralph Nader again, too...
Yep, I have voted for a candidate before as sort of a protest vote because I didn't like either candidate. I am not crazy about McCain, but actually like Palin for her plain talk. Now if Joe Lieberman was running as the Presidential candidate (any party)...he would be my choice. The fact that Senator Lieberman endorsed McCain, swayed my vote.
Still, I am not thrilled with the tickets out there, but will not vote for someone like Barr as a protest.

HarleyHog...glad to see you. I wondered what had happened to JYD!
Aren't you really glad you CAN grow food to feed your family? I am. Did it before, and who knows may need to do it again. GGE rocks.

Doc Z,
Your post about Fitts is enlightening. I have many relatives in C(r)ook County Illinois, so I know more than most about what real corruption is about. I can't go into more detail, but one was a poll watcher and another a precinct captain for the ruling party during the first Daley regime. Junior has his father's act down well, but doesn't have the same power.
I find it interesting that another Goldman Sach's leader will be the "Secretary of Financial Stability"...did I get that right? Egads. Aren't we talking about 4 trillion dollars of bad debt? And it isn't the housing market which brought us there, it was greed from some of those in firms such as Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers selling investments and skirting the "insurance" issue to be legal?
About the only "good" that I see personally is that I am learning much more about the global economy than I ever dreamed I would. Like you state so well, we cannot see into the future, so whomever wins the Presidency will have a global economic mess and more to dig into. Truly daunting. Just hope Hizzoner Dick Daley doesn't have too much say in how this is done.
No matter whomever is elected they will be tested. Will they be able to handle all that will come their way and pull us out of the "soup"???? Time will tell. In the meanwhile, consider how much you can learn about growing your own vegetables. My great grandparents did this during the Great Depression. Compost anyone?

emmylopez, my wife voted for Hillary in the primary (switched parties to do this). CTL/LS, you, 676 and few others (dooley, swfl_ff) are the folks I look for on the blogs. Always interesting comments.
I will have to ask if my wife bought a t-shirt also. Save it it may be quite valuable. (I am bad and don't pay too much attention to the clothing...just what is inside...LOL)

artdude: we will miss you if you don't get ear plugs, turn off the set, or turn down the volume. November is close, but not close enough. BTW, I am totally sick of all political rhetoric and grandstanding politicians be they Republicans, Democrats or others.
So what kind of art do you dude (pun)?
