I guess i should stop reading the NDN too, because it really isn't helping my intelligence either.

I think that I'm going to stop reading the blogs.....every time I read them, I feel like a majority of you people steal just a little bit more of my intelligence. I feel "dumber" now. I guess idiocy does spread like a virus and NDN blogs are a viral breeding ground.

Pointing a gun at someone means the same thing in English and Spanish. It universally means you are about to get shot and should expect the same in return. Especially when you point it at policemen VISIBLY armed. Some people are just so jaded that no matter what they will post idiotic comments....and yes I mean you JellyDonut.

Where did the 40 shot count that everyone is referencing come from? I can't seem to find a definitive number released by CCSO. The only reference to a shot count came from someone in the blogs writing that they saw 35+ little yellow evidence markers and then equating that to shell casings. They mark more than shell casings with those.

Anyone ever been in a situation where they are flushed with adrenaline and fear at the same time? Accuracy really goes out the window. No matter how much you shoot at paper targets, you know they aren't shooting back and thus accuracy doesn't equate to real world situations. Look at most police shootings (not SWAT involved - they train a heck of a lot more than the average deputy/police officer) and you will see that the accuracy rate is low, even at close range. The average body just doesn't react exactly the same as training.

You obviously have never gone to the LEO academy. Waiting to get shot isn't an option. Just plain stupid. He had a gun and pointed it at the cops. They had every right to fire and fire as much as necessary to stop the threat. This happened in mere seconds. Think about making that decision. Not sitting back and blogging about it days later. If you don't have a clue, please be quiet.

Should they release his real name (i.e. the one he had before he came to the US) or the name he has been using since he crossed our border? Maybe they are being diligent and trying to find out who he really is. Obviously he is an alien and quite possibly illegal. I know this may surprise some of you but many illegals assume false identities and have fake papers.

This is just typical of NDN, trying to stir up controversy about something that really isn't that big an issue. Just read the headlines of any police related article and you can't miss their attempts to rile the public. This isn't journalism, it is crap. I'll be the first to criticize CCSO when they do something screwy, but this isn't it.

#51 - The gun does not have to be real to constitute a crime. It is a subjective test...i.e. did the victim think that the gun was real. I would have to think they thought the threat was real since they shot him. Besides, I know a couple of deputies and they are good cops not prone to make stupid mistakes.

On UPDATE: Collier Sheriff’s Office still investigating shooting by deputies

Anyone notice that the little Yahoo map on the left hand side of this article puts Tuscan Isle in Bear's Paw Country Club. Not even close to accurate. NDN, you could at least check to make sure it is right if you are going to post it.

Also, those of you who are in the know and posting the victim's name before they released it officially -- why did this fight happen? Some of you claim you were there. What caused it? No one has broached that subject yet.
