I still own property in the estates (land). I have always said that there are people who live outside the estates who are trying to take advantage of the people who live in the estates. Many of the board members of the civic association do not live in the estates. They have a special agenda.

Thank god I don't live in Collier any more. Between the school board and eastern Collier issues, what a mess.

Too bad not enough people will get involved and make a difference. Only a handfull of people are active in these groups. Doesn't really matter how many members you have.

Bag,
The union also tried to leverage the board in the same statement.
I will take bets that what Curatolo said will come true. They will get the savings on the insurance plan, AND outsource custodial as well. Probably foodservice too. The waste in the kitchens is terrible. And the soap dispensers don't work in the kitchens either. How can you wash your hands? this is the tip of the iceberg.

lizzyb,
Not only are you wrong about the view from a CEO's position, The CCPS is in a difficult position all around right now. That is precisely why Thompson is here. Do you have the experience to solve the problem? There are too many armchair quarterbacks here in Naples including the Chamber of Commerce. As far as Thompson making mistakes, that is totally wrong. He is using basic cost containment methods which are taught in any university. It is unfortunate that it has become an emotional issue. That is what separates reqular people from Corporate guru's. He has a job to do,and can separate the job from the emotion. That is what he get's paid to do. Let him do his job.
On Collier not only school district facing difficult choices, including outsourcing

bagpiper,
You aren't sure? Go into the bid documents for the custodial bid. The purchasing department sent out an e-mail as well as a copy of the contract reflecting that the union contract is not in effect. Not ratified. You can request that document like anyone else. It is public information.

Bagpiper, You need to get your facts straight. Please call the CCSB and the will tell you the Teamsters contract has not been ratified since last June. They have no contract, therefore they aren't legally representing the custodians.
You said.....
kneejerk........come with facts.......the Teamsters Union local 70 has been representing the support workers for over a year. Not one penny has been collected by them from anyone. Did you know that before you blogged

Why do we have a candidate quoted? Did we quote all of the candidates?

Smokin hot - lol
The only agenda of a homeowners association is to be an "association". That is members working with and for each other for the betterment of the estates. Do you have an anger problem? These are the kind of people that killed the civic association. We all watched it happen. Meetings where people attack each other and the government. How can you do anything for the community when there is such a negative atmosphere? Low humidity here today, 58 degrees tonight. Got the windows open. Fished in the creek today. Life's too short people, get out of the rats nest!
