For those that have never visited the "Wall" in Wash. D.C., this is a rare opportunity to pay homage to those that gave the all for their country.
To all of my Collier neighbors who served in Southeast Asia in this war I offer a heartfelt "welcome home."

Toesmom___ pluuussee, give it up already. The election is over. Stop badmouthing the CCSO, it's like you're spitting in the face of all LEOs.
The department earned it's credentials before and, I'm sure, will again because it is a well managed department...and you need to get over this honest fact.

You read it here first.....
I passed the scene on my way to North Naples as it was occuring. Helo was in the air doing a large sweep-circle, lots of umarked cars with doors open, and as I proceeded north lots of patrol units visable.
Here's the story...a Brinks truck was parked in front of the bank. This could have been an altercation with the armed truck guards.
I give those guys a lot of credit for the job they do for the wages they're paid - they are virtual sitting ducks, waiting for someone to try and take them down for other people's money that they guard with their lives.

Let's all remember that an accused person is presumed innocent until a verdict of guilt is reached by a jury of one's peers. Ms. Stilwell is not charged with any crime, and to consider her of any guilt by association is an affront to our criminal justice system.
This woman has served our community well in the last 12 years and deserves our support. We should take stock in the fact that she has continued to report on many stories, including her husband's, with the professionalism that all the NBC-2 news team has always demonstrated.
If I were in her shoes I would not be reading these blogs but it is my hope that some of her friends will pass my support on to her. Jessica is a valuable part of our everyday SWFL news day and she deserves the support of us all. Don't hold her feet to the fire for whatever her family is accused of.
She's always been a proven, justified, honest and straightforward reporter...that will never change.
Jessica, hang in there...there are a lot of your viewing public that echo what I've written here, and I'm sure those that do agree will show it in this blog. Good luck fine reporter, we support you so hang in there and fight the good fight!

You deserve some time off, but knowing you as I do time off is not what you want. When you have a career in law enforcement every day is a great day to be "on the job."
So hurry up and get to work Sheriff-Elect, but maybe do a little time running mid-nights in a radio car...
Congrats again, Kevin, you're the best!

BlueT...it's nice to finally blog about everyday stuff...not heated political sheriff races...and I'm amazed about your animal adventure. You did a kindness for that animal that will be returned to you!
Florida is a wild environment for any creatures to exsist in. Insect bites are deadly for any who are or may be allergic, and fire ants are not something one would normaly get tested for by their doctor, like being allegic to a bee sting. It makes you think that we all should have an emergency injection kit in our first aid kit.
One animal to be very wary of is the Brown Recluse Spider. They are not big, ugly and scary-looking but are average sized and appear non-threatening. They like to hide in cool, damp, slightly dark environs like your garage. They love to spin their webs in shoes. Our family has a habit of shedding their shoes in the garage before entering the house. We all are careful to shake out our shoes before putting them on again and, luckily, have found several of these killers hiding in the shoe waiting for a bite and have dispatched them. To all I say BEWARE of this little killer.

I thought Dick Chenny and Bill O'Reilly were going to join him in the "biggest Republican feat ever." Oh well...there's another election in 4 years.

Not everyone has to be a victim. This perp was caught because the owner of the laptop had identification information...followed by the CCSO processing the info...and lastly by the HONEST pawnbroker who did the right thing.
If we all take the time to protect our valuables then we won't be cast as victims, and we can put the criminals amongst us in jail.
